lol. how do you draw that from what i said? i said i want dems to be more aggressive in countering trump and his lies. i want dems to better articulate the fact that trump is a liar with anti-american values. instead, they are letting trump control the message and they are being kept on the defense.

its a recipe for losing in 2020.

so you dont want democrats to call out trump when he lies, makes racist comments or accuses dems of being anti-american? they should just take it? they should let trump control the message? dems should constantly be on the defensive? you dont want dems "counter-punching" like trump claims he likes to do? you dont want dems pointing out that trump is the one with anti-american values?

you say they need to stop reacting to everything. i strongly disagree and argue that they need to react differently (more aggressively) than they are doing now. that is my main point.

my concern is that if the dems keep doing what they are doing, stay on the defense and continue to let trump control the message that ousting him will not be tangible.

 

Democrats have been doing this since 2016. But, Democrats are not voting for trump anyway. Its republicans who are voted for him in 2016. Seems they are going to again in 2020, regardless of how many times Democrats... heck, more than Democrats point out how often trump lies, and how often he says and does racist things. So, either republicans just don't care about a president lying constantly and saying and doing racist things... or?

 

I live in Omar's district and there are a lot of things that I do not agree with her on. That doesn't mean that I think she should go back to where she came from or question how American she is or how much she loves this country. "Go back to where you came from" is something that has been told to me a lot and it has often been told to me. It was told to me by a child and it was told to me as an adult. For those of you who continue to claim that it doesn't matter yes it does matter. Even just saying that if you don't like how this country is going you should leave matters. Listening to Trump supporters many of them believed that this country was a hell hole under Obama yet I don't know any that left and I don't recall Obama telling any them that they should leave. Most importantly loyalty to the President should never be the standard of love of country. The President isn't king and the oath that people in the military, elected officials and naturalized citizens take isn't to the President but the Constitution.

This is important but this is a distraction and a deliberate one. Trump knows that this controversy both hardens his base causing his opponents to not focus on other issues. Consider that the prior week the administration suffered a stinging defeat in he court. The vaunted ICE raids were far less smaller and less successful than billed. Epstein was arrested and new evidence comes out about Trump's connections to him. Mueller is about to testify publicly in Congress. Also one thing that hasn't gotten much attention but the US is losing the trade war. Trump has backpedaled on Huawei while latest reports show the Trade deficit widening.. This is masterful misdirection.

Exactly, the problem is that Republicans control a lot of the media: Fox News, a large percentage of the radio stations and broadcasts, Sinclair, etc. The folks currently in power made a concerted effort 20-30 years ago to own the information process and its worked; they’ve gotten a loyal following and they twist the truth to favor their side while their loyal followers do nothing but follow orders.

There are limited avenues for Democrats to get their message across without it being overwhelmed by the right-wing media. As soon as Pelosi tries to counter, the other side already has a counter to that.

It’s funny that the Republicans complain about a left-wing media bias when so many outlets are right-leaning. Just another example that the Right doesn’t care about the country as a whole...just about beating the other side.

Conservatives traditionally hated the news media for two reasons:

1) There was little money to be made in that industry and the skills that were needed to excel in it were not typically the strengths of conservatives.

2) It skewed liberal by nature. Comforting the afflicted and afflicting the comfortable is a liberal principle. Reporting dirt on the wealthy and powerful usually put conservatives in the cross-hairs more often than not.

Then came cable. Now you can weaponize and monetize the news. You can create a hyper accelerated feedback loop using rage-inducing clickbait and fear mongering. FOX News tapped into a completely unserved market of conservative news consumers, and in doing so became the singular reference point for half the nation. Whereas liberals remain scattered to the winds. So when the news cycle cranks up, you have a dozen+ liberal fiefdoms all warring for attention with garbled messaging... and there alone sits FOX, with its 50% marketshare and singular message ready to program up a legion of gullible baby boomers.

 

Conservatives just mean get them out of Washington by having a republican win their district back home -- whether that is Brooklyn, Chicago or Somalia.

Oh, I haven't seen anything antisemitic from her as of yet. Trump's comment about only wanting Jewish accountants was definitely antisemitic. Trump's saying there were fine people marching with the Neo-Nazis chanting slogans against Jewish people would also qualify as antisemitic at least in sentiment.

All I've seen from Ilhan is anti-Israel rhetoric.

ive already stated that multiple times. and you say they are already doing these things. i strongly disagree. and i had msnbc on this morning while i was making breakfast and they were saying exactly what i have been saying. trump is controlling the narrative and dems need to stop being put on the defensive. they need to do a better job of messaging. they need to be more aggressive in pointing out trump is the one with anti-american values.
