At the federal level? Yes. The federal government gave a large multi-billion dollar direct cash payment to GM during the financial crisis. I am mean...yeah, sure the federal government caters to specific companies.

LMAO there is a mass exodus of US companies leaving the USA.

I wouldn't say it wasn't a 'hard task', considering Obama failed to accomplish it himself

Then again, knowing Obama and how inept he is at everything besides speeches, it could have been an relatively easy task after all.

Obama even failed in the bailout compared to Trump. Obama saved jobs, but in the most idiotic way. It was at a loss financially, we still haven't earned that money back. Trumps carrier bailout brings a 9 million dollar surplus. Trump would have cut a better deal.

But then again, Obama scammed the American people. Alot of 'bailout' money oddly ended up being 'donated' to the democratic party....

Tweeting or making a public announcement offering hope and condolences towards each tragic events seems hard for Obama to do stat.. if he does do it it's several days later. Trump has already shown to acknowledge each one immediately as a leader should.

He will be going in history universally known as one of the top 5 worst presidents and one of the top 5 greatest orators of all time.

Which they paid back.... nearly all the bailouts have been paid back if the companies remained solvent.

Lol. Hyperbole will get you nowhere Trump junior. There is no mass exodus of companies leaving the US. And all the companies that have remained solvent have paid back the money. Your dishonesty/ignorance is cute.

Saying something a bunch of times over and over doesn't make something true.

LOL you guys are reaching up your asses for anything to criticize Trump.

And how is this happening with Carrier, exactly? We've been going back and forth for a while now and you haven't made your point.

Yes, as part of the auto bailout. Hailed as a great success today. And likely, hopefully, one in a lifetime event. It is a single example and it was only done due to an economic crisis when two players said they were about to belly up. It isn't directly comparable for these reasons and because it focused on the whole auto industry, not a single company.

Without that bailout, we probably don't have GM or Chrysler today, Ford might not survive, and the economy probably turn from very bad to extremely bad with the midwest maybe entering a depression. We never know what would happen (other then GM and Chrysler folding as they said they would) without the bailout, but we know that it worked. The job saved was not just directly those employed by the GM and the likes, but all the companies up and down the supply chain in the auto industry. We were looking at million of jobs and hundred of billion in lost taxes and social services expenses to help those that lost their jobs.

What other company besides Carrier got tax breaks today? There is yet a plan on how to get a significant jobs back or whatever. This was merely a media event.

A better question is how many of Obama's buddies got subsidies during his administration? Also, even if Trump only saved 1000 jobs, that's still 1000 more jobs than Obama ever saved under his entire tenure.

    Smoke on.

Well, I don't disagree with that notion. But, even if we can conclude that as a fact then it won't be any different than what we have now.

MAde my point 100 times over. You asked 'why would republicans not like this?' and I said because its basic crony captialism. A company getting government perks over its competitors. Specifically i asked you about smaller companies. would they get the same presidential treatment (of course not)? then how is this a free market?

This was a combination of vice president elect Pence (active governor of Indiana) using state tax breaks within his own state and president elect Trump "threatening" tariffs and lack of military contracts to parent company United Technologies. Help me out with an Obama example.

That's why I asked, are they in the same situation and the president-elect is not helping them?

You want an Obama example man? Fannie or Freddie or Dodd Frank or any of that other bullshit that impacts the rest of us? How about the bailouts? Did you get any money back from that? I sure as hell know that I didn't.

How about the people Obama left behind? The city of Chicago is a 3rd world shithole now. What labor deals or tax breaks worked for them? I'm guessing none.

Oh, when Obama faces a real economic problem? "Hey guys, lets just print some moar money!!", genius!!

Obama's entire tenure can be summed up like this

    1. Tax
    2. Spend
    3. Print more money
    4. Rinse and repeat
