Within the last decade or so, we have seen Trent Dilfer, Rex Grossman, and Brad Johnson start at QB for Super Bowl teams, winning two. Those teams had great defenses with the Bucs and Ravens being all-time great, still how is the Texans' defense this year? I'm not saying but I'm just saying. There is a long way to go but with this defense and running game and Kubiak's play design, why can't Leinart "Hostetler" the Texans to a Lombardi trophy? I am trying to convince myself it can happen.
Dilfer has been hyping yates from the draft. He's quick to comment on qb's and evaluate their situations like he was a great qb. Him speaking is like asking Mark Madsen what it takes to be an NBA champion.
To be fair, when you look back at the great coaches in history, it's the ones that had to work their asses off and be students of the games just to survive as players. Many never made it to the big time. Mark Madsen likely would be a great person to ask about what it takes. He was a contributing member of those Lakers teams. He wasn't there because of his talent or athletic ability. He was a smart player that put himself in the right place at the right time. Knowing those things makes one a much better coach than one who was born with natural ability and could get by on it alone.
very true, and I completely agree. I just didn't like how he wrote off leinart immediately and said yates would be playing eventually. leinart has accomplished a lot regardless of what people think of him and he deserves a chance that he'll now get.
