Here's a trade to make both teams better. Rafer Alston + Juwan Howard for Sarunas Jasikevicius + Adonal Foye. Rafer is basically an open court player forced to be a stand still 3 point shooter in JVG's team. He would THRIVE in Golden State's team as a perfect backup to Barouwa Juwan Howard would be a perfect veteran leader on a young GS team, and his lack of any post game is fine given how GS plays, he would be playing spot minutes anyway. Sarunas Jasikevicius is redundant in GS because he's a half court PG, whereas GS run an open court style of game, he is not atheletic enough for Don Nelson to get minutes. He doesn't have the playmaking skills of rafer, however he doesn't need to since the offense is not built around a playmaking PG. He is a Dead-eye standstill 3 point shooter, will thrive in an offense built around Yao. Adonal Foye also out of favour in Don Nelson's team, because Al Harrington basically took all his minutes. He has no offensive game other than dunks, however he is a monster rebounder and blocks a ton of shots, very physical player, basically would be an enforcer on the court. He would be everything that people hoped from stromile swift in that he is a very good locker room presence and also he has high Bball IQ. I think the team has to think of these type of moves because trying to trade for KG etc... is not realistic. I think by making this trade, the rockets would've upgraded at 2 spots and this is a trade that is a win win for both teams
And perimeter playmaking? You just took whatever we had left besides McGrady. So we um, start this Jxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx guy? And play him 44 minutes a game? I don't see how he's going to be better than Alston. Trade's practical at least. Intriguing idea. Interesting.
The thing is you are not going to make the team a contender with one move, this is a team that has not got out of the first round, it's about upgrading talent at all positions, getting better slowly. This team is not one move away from a championship despite what everyone thinks. The only way to get better is by trading for talent on other teams that are not being utilised by the system that team is running. Basically similar to the boki trade. Boki in houston was going nowhere, change of system, change of coach that can better use his talents, and he blossoms(sort of). Jasikevicius is a similar to Alston in talent, but much more suited to Houston's system and team. Alston's strengths would be getting out in the open court, running and gunning, strengths that are totally not suited to the system he is in. Jasikevicius is not quick, he can't really get to the rim, but he is a deadly shooter if given any space. If he is given the shots rafer gets, he will hit 40%+ on 3pters.
He's been crap in the playoffs so far and Biedrins has a big payday coming up. I don't think it's THAT unrealistic, however unlikely it may be.
It's impossible, Harrington is a Don Nelson player, Head is most definitely not. Nelson sticks by his guys, he never loses faith, check out long it took for Steve Nash to become productive in Dallas, and Nowitzki as well. Nelson is one of the most loyal coaches in the league, if you are one of his guys, he will stick with you.
Dude, Foyle sucks. Hard. With a monster contract. Sarunas can't even get any backup minutes on a team with a hobbled Baron. pass pass pass. I would love to get some of GS's players(always liked Pietrus(sp?)), but its probly even more unlikely to happen now.
Foyle is much better than either juwan or Hayes. Sarunas is better than rafer for this team. His expiring contract next year could also be useful if he doesn't work out.
A big man bust with a huge contract who cant shoot or rebound to save his life. A euro sg who did great for his national team (Vspan anyone?) but couldn't even get off the bench for the Pacers and the warriors, and is known for his TOs and pron to throw up shots. And all we have to give up is the only consistant bench player and a PG that (although lack offensive firepower) can dribble the ball up court and pass to TMAC...... WOW sounds like a great steal who wouldn't do that deal signed Isah Thomas
If you're going to shoot an idea down with such certaintly you're going to have to do better than that. You just called an NBA trade impossible. Just like it would have been impossible to think that Indiana would give up a first round pick to acquire Harrington again in the first place only to trade him away after 36 games. Sound like a good idea to you? He's been traded three times in three years. You make it sound like i'm suggesting we trade Howard for Kevin Garnett. Not quite. If Harrington is such a "Don Nelson player" then please explain to me the reasoning behind the failed Antawn Jamison and Antoine Walker experiments. They're all similar players, wouldn't Nellie's "loyalty" mean those guys would have gotten more than one year to prove themselves in that system?
You know what I take wat i said back I would luv to have foyle on this team http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkoNgq-O3R4&NR=1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOE-bbkTNfM&NR=1 I could use a laugh or two while watching the rockets you think Golden State would take Yao for him? Or do we need to throw in a couple first rounders to pry him away from the Warriors for the steal of the century
ROFL. There's your $62 million man. Good think he missed those. His pay rate is a little over $15000 per point. What a total joke. I'm sure the US Government will hire him when he's through collecting checks in the NBA.
