Jumper's knee is a tendon problem. They can fix it. btw- Vince Carter is being shut down for the season and is going in for arthroscopic surgery next week. That's the word out of Toronto. So basically he's been playing with a really bad knee injury the past few weeks. **** the haters who say he's soft.
If Toronto traded Vince, they would be force to move to Dumpwater, Florida. He is basically the only reason basketball still exists in one Canadian city. The fans flock to Raptor games to see Carter, not Antonio Davis or Keon Clark, etc. That is how the owners make money. They are not going to stick a fork in their own good fortune by trading one of the highest profile athlete in all of sports.
Why would the Sixers trade Allen? He led them to the Finals, which is more than Vince has ever done for his team. Allen has heart and is a leader, which are some intangibles that are completely foreign to Carter.
Carter was one shot away from leading his team to the finals. Funny how if one measely shot goes in, none of this would be even an issue.
When they had Damon Stoudamire and a bunch of scrubs they were averaging better attendance than the Rocks... I dunno how you can say that.
Doesn't jumpers knee also have to do with the cartilage(sp?) in his knee. Since the cartilage is damaged the pain he is having is cause by bone hitting bone in his knee. I may be mistaken but isn't this very similar to the injury Penny Hardaway suffered? If so, Carter may never be the same player he was two years ago.
There is a honeymoon period for a new team in a new city. Of course Raptors sold out games back then with Damon Stoudamire. They probably would have been averaging good attendance figures if Charles Jones was their featured player. People were excited about a new sports team. I dont know the figures, but I am guessing Vancouver was not far behind in fan attendance when both teams first started out. Now its a different story. The honeymoon period is long gone. Vancouver found out the hard way. I think if the Raptors started to suck with Carter gone, their popularity in Toronto would suffer big time.
Vancouver had better attendance than the Rocks too. The only difference is that Rocket management didn't buy the team in hopes of moving it to the States like Vancouver's did.
http://www.canoe.ca/Slam020323/nba_tor2-sun.html Back to the topic at hand: No I'd never ever trade Vince unless it was for Shaq, so that aint happening and Vince is going no where. **** all you critics out there, Dr Funk and Badass Olympic Vince will make his return. To Quote the former (And Insane) head coach of the Raptors, Butch Carter: "Something is going to have to happen to those two guys in their professional lives that is so painful, so impossible to live with and so embarrassing, that erasing that memory and winning at the NBA level becomes their only goal and focus." Butch = Prophet, watch out NBA.
