Since Nikoloz is moving past Butler on many draft boards it's possible to see him slipping out of the top 5. Slippping to 10 would be a strech though, but then again Pierce was rated pretty high too when he fell out of the top ten. If somehow he doesn't go 5-7 then he will go to 10 with the Clippers already having a glut of SF at 8 and the Suns at 9 having Marion.

This would be the rockets best draft ever if we got both Ming and Butler.

Shady, that's assuming teams want to use him at the sf spot where he is undersized. He is more fit to be a shooting guard in his 6'5 frame. I wouldn't be suprised at all to see the Clippers or especially the Suns take him to use at sg.

Clippers have Quentin Richardson, Eric Piatkowski, and Corey Maggette at the 2, plus Dooling and Jaric will probably play there some. He won't be around till 12, and they'd be better off going big-they still have Sean Rooks as their 3rd best big man, and that's assuming Kandi is resigned. Unless Borchardt, Hilario, Gooden and Wilcox are all off the board, I doubt they'd even consider Butler. They'd probably have a tough time leaving Stoudemire on the board even if all the aftorementioned big men are gone.

The Suns still have Penny Hardaway playing the 2, and acquired Joe Johnson, who will eventually be the SG sliding between Marion and Marbury. They need serious help inside-they have lots of talent at the 1-2-3.

Anyhow, that guy sounds like a troll, and with a little more searching, he is.

    See this thread

Go back to the 1st page for more, he's having a conversation with the beloved Nugzfan. Apparently, he was "jahiro" here on cc.net.

Or, to see this ultimate troll in action, claiming Doc Rocket says things, or to go to cc.net, go
    here.

    The guy is a troll.

I really dont think Butler is going to fall that much if at all b/c of the height question. Ive felt all along that he has a SG game from an offensive standpoint but has a bigger SF type body. When Pierce came into the league, he was projected at the 3 position but later moved over to the 2 guard spot. Butler is able to score in several different ways, off the dribble and pulling up, finishing at the rim, from the low post, in transition etc. In the right offense, he could be a 25 PPG type scorer and be a very good rebounder and defender for his position. At 6-6 235, Butler will be able to take many SGs into the low post and get high pct shots in addition to the rest of his game.

According to Jonathan Feigan's column this morning, Mike Dunleavy Sr. is supposedly taking over as coach of the Warriors (is this true?) which basically guarantees they take Dunleavy Jr at 3. Ive felt all along that the Grizz would take Butler at 4, but it appears that Jerry West has supposedly guaranteed Gooden he wont fall past 4. If that is case, I dont think Butler falls past the Cavs at #6. Apparently, the Knicks are drooling over Chris Wilcox at 7. The top 7 could shape up as follows:

    Ming - Hou
    Williams - Chi
    Dunleavy - GSW
    Gooden - Mem
    Tskia - Den
    Cle - Butler
    Wilcox - NYK

My guess after that is Wagner would go 8th to LAC, Jeffries 9th to the Suns and Woods 10 to Mia.

Let's take Butler #1 and then pick up Ming at #15.

It would be fun to pass on Ming - it would drastically upset every mock draft in the nation and send teams scrambling. Chicago on the clock!

Butler's stock has fallen alot these past few weeks. Not necessarily becasue of his height, but more that there are alot of teams hoping they can turn a foreign product into the next Gasol.

    8. Caron Butler So. SF UConn
As good as he is, foreign interest could push him down. May wind up being a Paul Pierce-like steal.

This is from the "Stock Chart" on the ESPN web page. Right now they have him worth a number eight pick. Come draft day, if he really wants to play for the Rockets, he could fall to number 10.

    From the Chronicle on 6/16

Doesn't seem like he is going to fall past 5th...

    trade kenny also said this:

Odom has told Doc Rocket that he will literally pass on millions for a year the following year when rices contract is up in 2003.We can pay him then,2003-2004.(when his final rookie deal is up

Its worth it for him in the long run.He saw how we stuck by our word with taylor even though taylor played bad,and that speaks volumes.

    Is this true Doc Rocket?
