Memphis obviously wants to shed salary, and the scuttlebutt is that Mike Miller is the best quick fix to do it. So check out this trade with a future Rocket first rounder going to Memphis: http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=4462594
I really like jaric. I think snyder, wells and hayes probably can get it done. Ricky Davis for james and head will probably work.
3 team deal?? Not so sure about all of that, but whatever gets Miller in a Rockets jersey, I'm all for!
Yup. Agreed. Head, Francis, Snyder, Bonzi, and a pick for Miller with Memphis agreeing to cut Francis and Bonzi. Then re-sign Bonzi and Francis to minimum deals after Memphis cuts them. Bring in Mike Harris to fill out the roster.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...11~29~10~11~17~17~17~11~11~17~11~11&te=&cash= with the few draft picks thrown to indiana's way wouldnt be too bad. they get salary to cut at the end of year minus rafers but they get 1 year less than tinsley for doing that. NJ gets their bigmen JO/Stro + point guards tinsley/james to replace kidd MEM get their lolbigman Collins for Stro and we get our star PG for the next couple of years JKidd
OK here is my IDEA.. since grizzlies are in full on contract slash and burn lets help em out. They send us Navarro, Mike Miller and Brian Cardinal We send them Snyder who will be a free agent at the end of the season. Luther Head who is a younger version of Navarro, Francis who they cut, and Mike James who will be on the books 1 year less than Cardinal for less money. Also cash and a 2nd round pick. This gives us a real 3rd scorer that can hit the open 3.
I like this scenario. also, nocioni has been talking to the media in Arg saying he has hit rock bottom =(. I would love to see him in a rockets uniform. james, head, protected 1st round pick, and snyder for nocioni.
On an unrelated topic, bold prediction: Stromile Swift will be awesome paired with Kidd. That's right I said it.
can we get "Half Man - Half Amazing" to play with his cousin? At least Carter has proven to be able to get out of the first round in many times
Forgive me if this point has been posted already in this thread, but I just noticed that Memphis is now UNDER the salary cap. This means that the Grizzlies can take on more salary than they send out. Of course, with Memphis strapped for cash, they would not ordinarily take on extra salary. But I'm wondering if the Grizzlies would consider this variation of the trade proposal that has been floating around this BBS all week: Rockets trade: Bonzi Wells, Mike James, Kirk Snyder, $3M cash and a 2008 first round pick Grizzlies trade: Mike Miller This trade allows the Rockets to pick up Miller AND get slightly below the luxury tax threshhold. Memphis gets expiring contracts (Wells, Snyder), a player (James) with one year fewer on his deal and at a lower salary, cash (to pay for Snyder, plus some extra money to sweeten the deal), and a first rounder. If I were Michael Heisley, given what he took for Pau Gasol and assuming that he cannot get a more enticing offer (i.e., ALL expiring contracts and multiple picks), I'd have to seriously consider that deal.
Then we could pair Half-a-Man Half-a-Season with his cousin Vince. By all accounts, Carter's knees are shot, and his contract is grotesque, so we won't be trading for him.
Successful Trade Scenario Congratulations on a successful trade. Due to Houston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. More of the same, but mention that Carter is on the market below as well. Nets to trade Jason Collins; but will they deal Jason Kidd? The Nets are expected to finalize a deal Monday that could be the first of many before the Feb. 21 trade deadline. They will be shipping away one of their Jasons. Could the other be far behind? Center Jason Collins, who has been a Net since the start of the 2001-02 season, will be dealt to Memphis on Monday for talented but underachieving Stromile Swift, the second overall pick in the 2000 draft, right behind Kenyon Martin. The Nets are trying to get more athletic in the frontcourt, which is one of the reasons Collins lost his starting job to Josh Boone in December. Collins, a defensive specialist, averaged 4.4 points and 4.5 rebounds in 6-1/2 seasons with the Nets. Though he had been criticized for his offensive deficiencies, Collins was praised by teammates and coaches for his cerebral play and character. Lawrence Frank was emotional speaking of Collins after the center played Saturday night in Atlanta, a 104-92 loss. Frank gave Collins a symbolic start and Collins scored the Nets' first bucket on a dunk. "Everyone in this organization, from the players to the coaches, who have been around this young man know how special he is," Frank said. Collins was a member of the Nets' two Finals teams earlier this decade. "Seven years is a long time and he was a big part of the success that we had," said Jason Kidd, who could be the next Net sent packing. Kidd requested a trade last week and the Nets are trying to get a deal done. But team president Rod Thorn has said that he won't trade the point guard unless the move makes sense for the Nets. So far nothing has come close to happening. Thorn said over the weekend that no one on the team is untouchable and it is believed that the team would like to trade Vince Carter as well. Carter is averaging 20.5 points after signing a four-year, $61 million deal over the summer. He averaged 25.2 points last season. Swift, a 6-9 power forward, is averaging 6.8 points and 3.7 rebounds for Memphis -------------------------------- The drastic overhaul scenario... Trade 1: T-Mac, Alston, James for Kidd, Carter Trade 2: Wells, Snyder, Francis, Hayes for Mike Miller New Lineup: PG - Kidd, Brooks SG - Miller, Head SF - Carter, Battier PF - Scola, Landry C - Yao, Deke
according to this source here it sounds like we were trying to get jefferson last year. i would have loved this trade if it would've happened. http://shoutfan.com/2007/06/13/houston-rockets-may-trade-for-richard-jefferson/ The Rockets are rumored to be seeking Richard Jefferson from the Nets. A perfect price match-up would be Juwan Howard for Jefferson straight up, but we all know Jefferson is a more dynamic player and the Nets will not fall for it.
