What's the big deal about picking the best team in the NBA to win it all? I mean, sure we were fighting against the Lakers at the time, but it was Gasol, Odom and Kobe against Artest, Yao Ming and Brooks. An unbiased, totally objective person would pick the Lakers to win it all at that point anyway. What's the big deal with him picking a team that was favored by the majority of people? I mean, Daryl Morey in an interview said that LBJ is the best player in the NBA. Supposing we were fighting against the Cavs that time he said it, does that make him a hater for not picking Brooks or Yao Ming? What's the difference between those two instances? Or is it if DM says the best player is not on the Rox team its ok because its the truth, but if Tmac says the best team is not the Rox he's a backstabber with no team spirit even if his assesment is correct? Not being a "Tmac fanboy" here, just can't figure out the logic of westerners at all...
The responses of his teammates upon knowing he did that, indicated that wasnt the best thing to do. Thats bulletin board material not from your opponent but OWN team mate. If Yao Ming went 1-13 in a game and McGrady says "Yao played terrible tonight, he needs to catch my passes better", he might be absolutely correct stating the obvious, but thats just the douchy thing to do. Wouldnt you want your teammate to give your team a chance? lol. He said something about "if my guys dont advance, then __" in a Jim Rome show to save face, AFTER picking the Lakers with no mention of his team own team in a previous radio show. If I recall correctly... It is still very true what Hball said that organizations will do inconsiderate things to players as well. The minute a player joins a team is the minute their names are discussed in trade talks or they're talking about their replacement. No real loyalty anywhere. Still doesnt excuse McGrady though...He might not owe us and the front office jack squat, but he can stand to owe his own teammates encouragement, after them bailing his 1-legged ass out to save the season. But this thread isnt about that...
