We were the 7th seed with Yao/Francis, and played the Lakers in the first round. Granted Yao was growing, but the West also became more and more competitive and Francis was declining fast, became a role player after 2005.

Like you said, History will never change, so assuming that with Francis we can still make the playoffs also doesn't make much sense.

I am not a Tmac fan nor an anthropologist, so I can't answer your question. Maybe because he was very good looking and his playing style was stylish and fun to watch? I don't know.

Eh T-Mac certainly had his shortcomings as a Rocket, and as the main guy, a lot of that falls on him. That being said, he certainly did not have a good or a healthy supporting cast.

 

I blame CD for not getting us enough quality role players. After Morey became the GM, he quickly assembled a very deep team. In 2004-2007, we didn't have a bench.

T-Mac fans always love to blame everyone but T-Mac. It's like the guy that works for 3 different companies and fails at each company, but somehow gets it into his head that it's not him, but everyone else.

 

Sometimes the truth is boring. He was critical to every one of the teams that didn't make the 2nd round. Lebron and Dwight have arguably taken lesser teams to the NBA Finals. But, he was not wholly responsible for any of those exits, despite what he claimed.

Vince Carter? Do u know how young McGrady was back then? It wasn’t even his team. They lost in the 1st round because Vince shot 30% from the field and 10% from 3 when that Raptors squad made the playoffs...
