It is a fact that the Rockets have one of the worst lower bowl crowd in the entire NBA. Sure we sell tickets but it seems like alot of people don't show up. On top of that, they are usually unenthusiastic and are almost always on their blackberrys/iphones/etc. Alot of this of course, has to do with the fact that many of these lower bowl seats are reserved for corporations/companies. I think maybe moving ALL of the reserved/corporation seats to the non-TV side of the arena and alloting the TV side (behind Clyde/Bill/Bull) for only the real fans would make our arena look not as empty or boring. What do you think?
decent idea but they'd never go for it because they'd be losing money on season ticket sales, i imagine
This topic has been brought up over and over. Nothing will be done about it since the seats are paid for. Money talks. The worst thing that happened in the lower bowl was the bars they built above it.
Simple solution....... Just move down from your seats half way in the 3rd quarter. They never check your seats after that time. When i go to the game and sit in the upper deck, i move down to the lower bowl around the middle to end of 3rd quarter and never been told anything.
This has been brought up a number of times. Your solution sounds decent, but the fact is that most Rockets fans can't really afford to pay for the lower bowl seats. So, the corporate mannequins pay the big bucks so they can have the status symbol of being seen in the lower bowl, and so they can bring their 'clients' to a Rockets game. The shame is that most of the mannequins (a few real fans manage to get the seats) probably don't even know how the Rockets are doing league-wide, what the names/skills of the particular players are, and they definitely don't know that Brian Cook has a sore hip flexor. What they do know is that they have sweet tickets in the lower bowl so everyone can see how high-status and important they are while they're hanging out in the bar or texting on their Blackberry.
lower bowl = corporate bowl/date night bowl. Its all about business not the invisible cheering crowd in the upper bowl.
Just walk down there and sit in an empty seat. There are plenty, and I do it all the time. If you go to a lot of games, you know where the seats are that are rarely filled.
They are definitely not all sold. Go to the rockets website and you can buy tickets for any game in the Club level. The problem is that the tickets are over priced and go unsold for many games. And of course the ones that are sold go unused or the people spend the whole time in the club level.
create an ultra group, not sponsored by the team i.e. red rowdies, with huge numbers. elect an ultra board and rep to interface with the team. negotiate sales, travel, sections, etc... with the team. If you get the numbers you will create an atmosphere never before seen in the NBA. Write songs and chants, it would be awesome!!! Here is the answer... Most people don't have $350 dollars to spend on mid court seats, so it does not matter where you place them. It isn't a crime to be on your phone during the game. You would see that in every arena. What difference does it make if your on one side or the other the crowd will not be louder because you moved people to the other side.
It's all about image. It's looks better if the section behind the tv broadcast crew is filled up. It makes it seem like your arena is full.
The Rockets offer upgrades for the game if you have a ticket to get into the building... It's a $100 per ticket to get on the floor and $50 to get into the Club.
