I hate the idea of 96 teams being in the tournament. Absolutely rediculous. http://ncaabasketball.fanhouse.com/...fficials-says-expansion-will-happen-likely-in Yall's thoughts?
I know right? The nit would be eliminated to be included in the ncaa tournament. One of the WORST ideas I've ever heard. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
So.. #1 seed versus #24? and that #24 would most likely be a team that would have been a mid seed for the NIT?
No, I would suspect like the bracket that was shown on SI.com & ESPN.com where the No. 1 through 8 seeds would have byes for the 1st round, and the 9 to 16th seeds would have to beat the 17 to 24th seeds to advance.
This is garbage. I suppose this will add a Tue/Wed slate of 32 games for the 9-16 seeds to play the 17-24 seeds. Very bad idea. How much money and interest will there be for this? About the same as for the first round of NIT games? If these are on neutral sites, who will bother attending? I'm gonna guess they will be homes games for the 9-16 seeds, which will really give it an NIT feel.
This is just pointless. The bubble teams right now don't have a chance in hell of winning the tournament. What's the point of adding 32 more crappy teams? I don't want the 12th place team from the Big East in the tournament. If they really need to expand, take it to 68 teams, with 4 play-in games. But make all the play-in games for the last wildcards only - automatic qualifiers make the actual tournament. Let VaTech and MissState battle Minnesota or whoever else is on the bubble to see who gets in.
Alright great idea when my bracket falls apart early I will have a chance to gain an extra 16 points with the expansion! jk. But like many of said this idea is stupid. I personally don't mind watching the NIT tournament I guess because Tech is in it. There is usually some big name schools that have down years since they lost a lot of players to the draft the year before. If the expansion happens how many blowouts will there be in the first couple of days. The setup the way it is, is perfect. The first couple of days of the March Madness are the most entertaining days in sports. I don't follow college basketball till March begins anyway. Can't wait to see the play in game for the final 96th team!
