This is a description of the chaos that happened in the shootout to apprehend the Boston Bombing suspects. It basically points out how too cops and too many guns showed up without good leadership or coordination. The Tsarnaev's only maybe shot 10 times and threw some homemade bombs while the police shot over a 100 injuring each other and allowing Dzhokar Tsarnaev to escape in the chaos.

There was a lot of back slapping by police agencies concerning the Boston Bombings.... yet they failed to get both brothers even though they had them greatly outnumbered and cornered. They let the younger suspect get away and hide in the area they claimed was completely quarantined... and he was hiding in a boat they claimed they checked a few times prior.

I guess sometimes being lucky is better than good.

Several videos were posted where a quiet Boston suburb sounded like a war zone. There was no need for police to have automatic weapons and no need at all for them to fire like they were landing on Normandy.

It just screams how bad it is to militarize your police. The police have a different job than the military and when they adopt a military mindset, training and are given military equipment for free this is the type of shiet that happens.

I agree with you. People do not realize that the proper of training is lacking and necessary or the police can put each other and the public in harms way.

Military train every year multiple times a year. These Fat Cops on the job probably hit the gun range once a year if at all once they get above 40.

I think a big part of the problem was the "self-deployed" officers all over the place. They should be told to stay away unless you're on duty and deployed to the scene.

That seems to be the biggest issue. None of the officers on scene knew who all was shooting and where their positions where. This doesn't seem like a failure of the weapons they have but of command and control.

You are saying the same thing I am. They have only the part of the military training that is most dangerous. Military have extreme command and control. They know where other squads are. They know who is in charge.

When you dump weapons and more importantly tactics (entry tactics, aggressive suppressing fire tactics) on cops, bad things happen.

No cops should ever use suppressive fire in a Boston suburb. This is why the police should never be militarized. The job is different, the discipline is worse and the training is extremely subpar.
