I agree with this. Nice yes, but no money. The Rockets would have to part with Ariza to free up space for Green. Brewer can stay simply because the Rockets have his bird rights
Will be interested to see what kind of offers guys like Green and Wes Matthews get. For the MLE I think they'd be decent value. But I'm not willing to pay more than that until we've got bigger rocks in the jar first.
I agree getting him would be good. I don't believe getting him would be accomplishable, tho, without giving back TA in return, since it would take an SnT. So then, what's the gain?
Add Khris Middleton, DeMarre Carroll to that group of 3/D players. The Wes Matthews case will be really interesting with that injury.
Why does everyone think people are just so eager to leave San Antonio. They have a A class management and terrific coaching staff. And if they can get HOF to play at discounts, why would people assume Green is leaving them? And in the off chance he does leave, the Spurs will keep rolling along...bc that is what they do. They wont be out of anything until Pop retires..
He was not coming off the bench behind Tyreke. He did for 6 games at the end of the season (including the playoffs) because he was coming off of injury, wasn't close to full strength, and was only playing about 15 minutes per game. He's not really a back-up and nobody considers him one.
This is the exact type of player that we do not want. Yes he is good at defense and shooting, but by having one creator on the floor (Mr. James Harden) it becomes all too easy against the best teams to disarm the one big gun we have on offense. We already have Brewer and Ariza, why get wing defender who can't facilitate on the offensive end?
I feel like he's one of those guys who would turn into a total scrub if he leaves San Antonio. A Gary Neal type.
lol he wont sign with houston. he'll get plenty of better offers. it would be sick to have a 3man sg/sf rotation with harden, green and ariza. keeping brewer would be excessisve since we got nick, terry and hopefully kj
That's what I was wondering. San Antonio isn't likely to sign him and trade him for Papanikolau. And if Llull is getting the full MLE, we have no money to go for anyone who isn't on minimum contracts.
Rockets have their MLE likely tied to Llull (and some set aside for their 2nd round pick). And are looking to re-sign their own guys. There will be no FA money for other players. All other roster additions will be done via Draft and Trades. Rockets COULD create cap space (~9M) by renouncing the rights to a number of players, but that seems like an unlikely option. Not much of a net gain there in terms of a talent upgrade.
Agreed. Reports say hes already back on court. I think theres a chance portland throws him a one year deal of 5-6 to prove hes back healthy. But theres too many teams looking for wings.
