Cults kill people (directly or indirectly) all the time. JW, scientologists, moonies. All the same crap.
Prince is the definition of a musical genius... I always got a kick out of reading the back of his albums and seeing just how much of his production was all him. He could play anything and had unmatchable charisma. He will be missed by millions but never forgotten!
Blimey. posted this in another thread several months back, but worth re-upping here: <iframe frameborder="0" width="560" height="315" src="//www.dailymotion.com/embed/video/x2xriyj" allowfullscreen></iframe><br /><a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2xriyj_the-waterboys-purple-rain-bbc-radio-2_music" target="_blank">The Waterboys - Purple Rain @ BBC Radio 2</a> <i>by <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/thegrstars-" target="_blank">thegrstars-</a></i>
You haven't heard of him, because he changed his name to an inaudible symbol...duh speaking of which, why isn't the media reporting "artist formerly known as Prince" died out of respect for his wishes. no, I'm not serious. But ironic question worth noting. I'm a big, huge fan! RIP <img src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/a/af/Prince_logo.svg/870px-Prince_logo.svg.png" width=20>

RIP to the best guitar player I ever had the pleasure of seeing play live. What a loss...dude still looked like he was 30. That's two this week...is it wrong to want the third to be a Kardashian??? RIP
One thing I regret is not going to his Paisley Park performances / party in Chanhassen (one of the suburbs of Minneapolis). His death is a huge loss for the Minnesota cultural scene and while he wasn't always the most visible or approachable there are a lot of ties here to him. One of my neighbors used to be a sound engineer for him and Prince engineer for him and still has one of Prince's old mixing boards. The First Ave. night club, where Purple Rain was filmed is still open and going strong. Prince would every now and then open up Paisley Park for performances and also do small shows at local venues. Bob Dylan is often considered a favorite son when it comes to music but moved out of the state when he was young and never came back to live while Prince stayed and did far more for Minnesota music than Dylan did.
Here's a clip to his killer SNL performance last year: http://theconcourse.deadspin.com/watch-princes-electric-performance-from-tonights-saturd-1653735759

A friend put it like this A Part of my childhood died when Mike Jackson died The other part just died with Prince The are the two best musician/entertainers OF MY LIFE TIME In my opinion. They are both deeply missed Rest In Power, Prince Rocket River
Who can forget that? I had no idea what those songs were but his guitar playing on them was a sight to behold. It felt like I was watching God play guitar. Same thing per his Super Bowl performance.
