Man, sob forgot about this concert, that's awesome! Obviously Duran Duran isn't Prince level... but still pretty great!

Prince was a one of a kind musician. So talented. I am really surprised people didn't know how great he was, but regardless his music will be there for everyone to discover. I really wonder if his estate will release any of the other music he's recorded. Regardless though, his absence from the industry is huge. He accomplished more in his first years on the scene than most musicians do for their entire careers.

Damn, the fan are really now opening their own vaults onto Youtube. Here's the entire Prince Controversy Tour show from 1981 in Houston.

As a fan of both Prince and Pink Floyd, I thought this was well done by David Gilmour. You can skip to 4:20 if you're not a PF fan but better to watch the whole thing for proper context.

One guitar virtuoso's subtle tribute to another.

For sure! man, I just wish stuff like this or even older archives were kept in better shape. I mean it's great to go back (don't get me wrong, I've watched a lot lately since his and other artists have passed), I just wish some digital medium were there for the amateur footage. Would love to see some of these old concerts that were shot by the pros be professionally restored and then audio restored but not over produced to loudness wars levels etc...

For example... I can still remember old concerts I went to.. would love some 35mm footage restored and put on 4k (Yes I know film can be better than 4 but just example) with actual audio that the artist/producer were in on (and not over sampled garbage that has forced people to drag out their LPs).

Tl;dr... damn right, man! I love the past

Thanks for sharing this, pretty cool tribute. I wish what was left of Floyd would work together... But Gilmour/Waters are still far apart. Can always see them separately I guess.

Some of the stuff I have seen sounds pretty damn good considering the technology of the time.

Now being reported that sister's husband said Prince had been awake six straight days with no sleep before he died? That is crazy and I can't even comprehend how that is possible without drugs of some kind.
