This is not a Houston Board. We do not need to be constantly reminded about the past. We are Houston Rocket fans. You think you have to live in Houston to enjoy this forum and support the Rockets? You are sadly mistaken sir.
what the hell is an Astro? so we are talking cosmic vans made by Chevy in the 90's now? never heard of Nolan Ryan. Is he, like, a totally awesome golfer? All I know is trade Tmac for Kobe.
Hmm You don't have to live in Houston or Orlando to know that Shaq was the best player in Orlando's history and that Tmac in Orlando wasn't even close, no matter how many points he scored. You can live in China and know that Shaq in Orlando was better than Tmac in Orlando or you can live in Afghanistan and know that Kobe is better Tmac you can live anywhere, but if you don't open your eyes and see what's going on, you are living on Fantasy Island
I know that this thread was meant as a joke, but I just wanted to enlighten people on the difference between a great player and a good player. When Shaq joined Orlando he increased the teams wins by 20 games, while utilizing the same roster as the year before. 21 Wins - Before Shaq 41 Wins - Shaq’s 1st year 66 Wins - Shaq’s last year 45 Wins - After Shaq 41 Wins - Before Tracy 43 Wins - Tracy’s 1st year 21 Wins - Tracy’s last year 36 Wins - After Tracy
In fairness, compare the rest of the Shaq-era Magic roster to the Magic roster of the TMac-era. There's really no comparison. I'm not saying TMac=Shaq or anything like, that, but the above stats do not tell the entire story.
Also by that rational , wade and kobe are just good players. Shaq increased the heat from 41 to 57 and decreased the lakers from 60 to 33. How many players can say they can affext 2 franchises?
Based on individual stats, it's interesting how close McGrady and Shaq were in the regular season. Some facts: - They both played exactly 365 regular season games as an Orlando Magic - Shaq's PER was 26.6, and T-Mac's was 26.4 - Shaq had 48.6 "win shares" over his games, while T-Mac had 49.2 But in terms of team success, it wasn't close. Shaq had a record of 185-110, while T-Mac's record was 140-155.
Shaq is one of the greatest ever. His impact on the game is almost unequal. I mean 3 different teams to the finals and countless 50 win teams. Just off the dome, shaq has won 50 games like 13 of 16 seasons with 1 being the strike year.
Where would you rank him amongst centers today? As in game 7 of the Finals, and you can choose anyone to be your center, where does he fall?
you think tmac was just a highlight maker and all about stats, thats your opinion and i respect that, but saying that t-mac wasn't the best magic ever is insane.shaq was great back in orlando days and he reached the finals (t-mac never been out of the 1st round) but don't forget that there was a guy with him called penny, which means he wasn't the only reason for the magic to be in the finals.orlando t-mac was argubly the best in the L, i mean the whole pistons(#1 seed prime pistons) couldn't stop him and he lost after a 7 games series, it was t-mac vs 5 pistons after all it not tennis it's basketball.
For me its Shaq and Tracy, in that order, as #1 and #2 in Magic history. More difficult is choosing between Dwight Howard and Penny Hardaway.
but bigez, Tmac won the scoring title TWO TIMES with the Magic 2002–03 Tracy McGrady Orlando Magic 32.1 2003-04 Tracy McGrady Orlando Magic 28.0 1994–95 Shaquille O'Neal Orlando Magic 29.3 Does that mean that 2002–03 Tracy McGrady > 1994–95 Shaquille O'Neal ? Doesn't scoring titles mean that you are a better player?
no it was lebron james who played 1 on 5 pistons and WON http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=270531008 AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- LeBron James grimaced, limped up to the podium and plopped into a chair behind a microphone. It was the only time he looked human all night. James had already used every ounce of energy to put together one of the most spectacular performances in playoff history, lifting the Cleveland Cavaliers to the verge of their greatest season. James' career playoff-high 48 points -- including his team's final 25 and 29 of its final 30 -- carried Cleveland within a win of the NBA finals for the first time in franchise history with a 109-107 double-overtime victory over the Detroit Pistons on Thursday night.
