You're also not normalizing Ben's numbers to a full season. On a Per16 basis, the numbers look more like 4,100 yards and 27 TDs per year. I'd take that from BO in a heartbeat, assuming a similar INT ratio (2:1). I'm skeptical that he can deliver that. And Fitz's numbers were not that close - he only threw for 2500 yards and 17 TD (at a great INT rate) In 12 games.
Gotta remember that Brock threw for almost 2,000 yards in 8 games last year so put that out in a full season and its 4,000 yards. However that was Denver and under different circumstances but maybe it could be done here
You better hope Osweiler can throw for a bare MINIMUM of 3500 for the Texans to have any type of shot next year. Anything under that will be a complete and utter failure especially when he has a top 5 receiver in the game. Even a game managing bum with no arm on a run first team threw for that.
Maybe it is, and maybe he should, but I don't see anyone else joining the bet or making their own parameters...
depends on how BOB gets the offense going. If it's run oriented like 2014,which I like, 3,800 yards, 24 tds would be exceptional. Brock would still be learning his offense. the 4,000 yard thrower of today is basically a 3,000 yard passer in the predungybitching era. So the yards are just a mirage. Will he keep the chains moving? that's the most important part.
I won't bet against you because I want you to be right too badly. I'm not bullish on Osweiler as having that type of upside, but God I hope I'm wrong!

Big Ben is likely a scumbag, but he is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. His combination of arm, mobility, size and strength, guts, leadership, etc. is among the best in history. Whatever metric you want to use is hard to figure out, but I'm willing to bet that 3 years from now nobody thinks Osweiler is as good as Prime Roethlisberger.
Average Roethlisberger season? that's setting the bar low isn't it. How about Roethlisberger's best season?
big ben went from game manager to turnover machine in his 3rd season as a starter to Maestro of omar epp's offense. Big ben found the time to hit the bathroom stalls and improve his craft with TIME in the offense.
