He should be benched just for the play he had where he rebounded the ball and darted at the goal wildly throwing the ball off the top of the backboard with his eyes closed.

We're missing too many layups at the end there...or we could have taking the lead. I hate to lose to the Lakers....making themselves think they're better. We could have owned these mfkers.....too bad we have something against us tonight: THE REFS!!!

Then you bring Battier off the bench and team him with Miller, Hayes, Ish, and Lee? That's is an offensive powerhouse! Thank god we have responsible adults making player personnel and coaching decisions.

And Kobe Bryant was a -8. These +/- numbers aren't very accurate of a player's value. Battier was constantly getting burned by Bryant and is just incompetent offensively.

I think all rockets played hard. Actually, I think they played a good game. The lakers are a better team, without a doubt.

BTW, is there any nba team who can guarantee a win against the lakers in staple center?

Battier is a sixth man coming off the bench if he is on another playoff team in the east or west.

I'm pretty sure I know better than Rick Adelman.

Also, people need to stop defending Battier with all these stats. Ok, so when he plays the Rockets score more than the other team. What does that have to do with winning????

    Brooks, Lee, Martin, Scola, Yao?

Lowry, Budinger, Battier, Hayes, Miller off the bench?

REFS are pro-Lakers and one of the reasons it's hard to beat the Lakers. Did you see those damm zebra called the last play out of bound in favor of the Lakers right away?? Thank God we have instant replay or these jokers could have thrown the game away. It's not just that play...these jokers have been calling a lot of fouls in favor of the Lakers trying to get them back into the game almost as if they're fans of the Lakers.

If this game took place in Houston...i guaranteed Yao would not have fouled out and Martin would not have sat.

    See below for reason:

Remember that drought between late 3rd and mid/late 4th during which the Rockets went from up by about 10 to down by 8? Battier was not on the floor for most of that. The drought ended a couple minutes after Battier went back on the floor. Not that he's entirely responsible for it, could be coincidence, but he certainly didn't cause that drought.

A coach who takes his but scorer at every position and puts them in his starting lineup is destined to fail as a coach. You need your best UNIT, not your best 5 individual scorers. Just because Chase is a better scorer than Shane doesn't mean that we will score more points than our opponent with Chase on the floor.

Yeah it's quite silly to think +/- means anything. Battier lovers can't admit what they see in front of them so they dig up any stat that makes Battier look good. Too bad they didnt mention his atrocious FG% percentage.

Luis Scola is a +7, would anyone dare to say he was a good player down the stretch? maybe in the very last 2 minutes, but not before that...

    +/- is a silly stat.

Here's the one argument that I HATE.
Battier needs to play because we have enough offense in our starting lineup.

Simply put, the more offensive threats that are on the floor, the more the opposing defense has to work and the easier it is for your other players.

A player like Battier creates problems because he only works when our starters are hot like in the first quarter. As soon as they cool off, his deficiencies amplify our offensive woes.

Battier needs to play less, and do more with the time he is given, period.
