They aren't choosing the Cavs because it's a better fit for their skills.

This is the same as every year. When players get bought out they almost ALWAYS choose the team with the best title odds that year to sign with for the stretch. In past years there were maybe a few more true contenders than the current league. I said this at the beginning of the season when everyone started eyeing Bogut as a buyout candidate. The only teams these high end buyout guys will choose are GS, Cleveland or San Antonio unless they either can't sign there or those teams don't want them.

In order to be considered a buyout possibility, we need to get our team to where players think we have a really strong chance at a title.

The Cavs are the new retirement home like Miami was a few years ago, just hop on and try to win a ring before calling it a career.

    LMAO @ the LBJ Haters.

Why are you mad? B/c he wants to win or because people want to join him to win?
Why are you mad? B/c he publicly asked for help, or because people privately seek to join him?
Why are you mad? B/c he's not Jordan, or BECAUSE he's not Jordan?
Why are you mad? B/c he puts the fear of losing him in management to the point where they pull off insane machinations of roster construction and trade iterations, or because he is able to put the fear of losing him in management to the point where....?

You know why Jordan didn't need Isiah, Magic, and Bird on his team? B/c the league wasn't nearly as top heavy and he never had to face a team with even 2 top 10 players.
The Warriors legitimately have 2 top 5 players, 3 top 15 players, and 4 top 20 players.
The Spurs have 1 top 7 and 2 top 25.
The Wizards have 2 top 25.
The Raptors have 2 top 25.
The Pelicans now have 1 top 5 and 2 top 15.
The Thunder of the last 3 years had 1 top 3 and 2 top 10.
Get used to it. This is the modern-NBA and until someone wins without a top-heavy roster it's not changing.

    Jordan's opponents:

Jazz '98 had 1 top 3 player (Malone; Stockton was top 10 at one point but not by the time he faced the Bulls)
Jazz '97 had 1 top 3 player (see above)
Sonics had 1 top 7 player (Glove) and 1 top 20 player (Reignman)
Suns had 1 top 3 player (CB34) (KJ past his prime (hard to do at 26 what a shame), Chambers past his prime, Majerle never elite)
Blazers had 1 top 10 player
Lakers had 1 top 5 player (Magic) and 1 top 25 player (Worthy)

Hate on him all you want, he didn't start the "Big 3" or "Big 4" craze - that was the Spurs (tank-a-palooza, excellent drafting and roster mgmt), followed by the Celtics, then the Lakers, and subsequently LBJ entered the fray with the Heat. He saw the landscape change, he adapted to it, and he just did it better than everyone before him. And you hate him for that? You hate him for swapping out his league-worst Cavs roster for the big 3 Heat/Cavs because he lived through what happens when an all-world player drags an awful roster against a big 3 ('07 Spurs)? It's tantamount to hating him for being great in general and for being better at the "big ..." than everyone else.

Check yourself and your indefensible hate. It's irrational. It's entirely subjective. It's a fallacy in the face of facts. IMO he's a top 3 of all-time and in a league 70 yrs old that means that you get one of him about every 25 years. Statistically, the adults among us will be lucky to see 1 more like him and quite unlikely to see 2. That's the definition of generational. Ya'll waste too much damn time hating. My advice would be to
either appreciate or ignore if it's not your cup. The facts are not on your side. But hey, if our President doesn't need facts, who am I to project that level of validation on to any of you...

I agree on all points, other than to say I don't really think that the Spurs are better than the Rockets at this point.

It is all about Cleveland and GS.

It is the reason that GS will get Calderon if they want him.

Bogut is old and breaking down. He said before the Rockets play too fast for him.

    Are you kidding?

Are you saying the Cavs are having a better bench than the Rox?

Which they still have 2 D-leaguers in their bench now?

I think this made the difference. Had he gone to GS and remained healthy then they win a championship, but now the Cavs win.

    Bogut/Thompson
    Love/Frye
    LeBron/Jefferson
    Korver/Smith
    Irving/Williams

Solid 10 man rotation with Shumpert and James Jones as injury insurance. That second unit is top 3 in the NBA and their first unit is top 2 in the NBA.

If anyone gets injured they can just go small ball with LeBron/Jefferson at the 4 and slide in Shumpert and Jones.

sigh. Cavs gonna walk right into the finals.

But the Cavs can play a slower, half court style that suits Bogut. The Rockets can't(at least not as effectively).

    Think about it:
    1) You just got bought out and will get paid relatively the same wherever you go
    2) You aren't the "impact" player you once were, so you have more of a role in making a great team somewhat better, as opposed to making a good team great
    3) LBJ has been to the Conference finals 6 years in a row and the Cavs are the HEAVY favorites to make it out of the East. Not to mention they won the championship last year.
    4) Being a champion cements your legacy, when the opportunity presents itself, you have to take it. The only reason you wouldn't is for monetary reasons, which don't apply in this case

So are you agreeing or disagreeing with me? You started off with "but." What you're saying is what I'm saying. The Cave are better suited for him.

So he left $2.5 million on the table with the Rockets and playing next to Harden who makes any center look good to play in the East with the Cavs.

I think he took the Gasol route and just wanted to play in the East in a contract year where he will look more dominant. In the west you have:

    Deandre/Blake
    Aldridge/Gasol
    NeNe/Capela (under 7ft)
    Gobert/Favors
    Gasol/Zach
    Adams/Kanter
    Jokic/Plumlee
    Nurkic
    Towns
    Davis/Cousins
    Mozgov
    Chandler

    vs the East:
Andre Drummond (who dominates the East on the boards) (under 7ft)
    Whiteside " "
    Jonas (a light 7 footer
    Thompson (under 7ft)
    Al Horford (under 7ft)
Gortat (an old, light, under 7 foot center)
Dwight Howard (who is feasting on the boards this year in the East) (under 7ft)
    Robin Lopez
    Brook Lopez
    Myles Turner/Al Jefferson ((under 7ft)
    Monroe/Henson (under 7ft)
    Zeller
    Noah
    Embiid
    Vucevic

It is safe to say he chose the Cavs because he wanted to dominant in the East with those cookie cutter centers. the West is much tougher at the 5.

Have no problem with Bogut going to the Cavs. He probably wants to stick it to the Warriors for jettisoning him.

Aside from the Rockets, there is no other team I am rooting for than the Cavs against the Warriors.

Cavs still need another rebounder, a bench player and two more playmakers for a total of 22 spots for Lbj

Who would you rather play for, if it was your choice? Money and shot at title? Or just the same amount of money, with no shot at title? Nor will they be buried on the bench. Bogut, for example, is only about an 18-20 min a game player anyway. I don't think he'll play any less at Cleveland than he would anywhere else. DWill about the same. He'll be a backup there, and could maybe start for some bad teams, but what's the point of that? Better to be a key player for a team playing for the title.
