Mostly for LMA...With David west at minimum.I say at this point, Duncan is in better shape than Dirk. And he lowered his salary for someone legit, like LMA, not pretty boy Parsons. LOL. Poor Dirk.

I always liked the Spurs for being so well ran and for just winning with home grown talent but now that they stepped into our territory of signing a big name FA I'm ready to see them crash and burn
Signing a 2nd Team All-NBA offensive and defensive player for 5 million? Pop's genius shining through again.
I think it has more to do with a vet giving a home town discount. Pop's genius has little to do with it.
Hometown discounts upset the parity of the NBA and make for unfair advantages. There should be some kind of rule that a player cannot take less than a certain amount based on some measures (e.g. a formula based on performance, tenure, and past money made). Most players are greedy and want all the money they can get. Then, you have these few who have maxed out their earnings in prior years taking discounts to allow for building a better team than they otherwise would have been able to achieve. To me, it's just not right. I f-ing hate it.
And that's why Kobe will never be considered a real legend or classy player. Guys like Dirk, Duncan, West are taking huge paycuts in order to help their team achieve success. Kobe has been crippling the franchise for years with his greedy attitude and still talks about wanting to become the best ever and helping the Lakers win more rings. Complete hypocrite.
Don't think I have a real problem with guys taking pay cuts. Good for them for doing so and obviously good for their team. But on the flip side... Dirk is taking a pay cut so Dallas can max out role players Wes Matthews & Chandler Parsons! Wade, before he got paid $20M for this one year, is supposed to take a pay cut for Bosh last year, Dragic this year and Whiteside next year. When does he get his or he can't? It's gotten comical how everyone is now a max player in the NBA. ... Then NBA owners will again try to cry poor.

Max money: Everybody gets it, devaluing the intent and creating a new class of NBA pseudo-star. http://t.co/p2Pp60MQYg
— Ken Berger (@KBergCBS) July 10, 2015

With four-year, $70m offer sheet from Portland, OKC's Enes Kanter will become the 11th player this summer to receive a max deal.
— Ken Berger (@KBergCBS) July 9, 2015

Say what you will about Kobe but he was done the minute he limped off court and that that major surgery. Credit given to a douchebag.....he had his fair share of fame and wealth
First of all, Kobe is considered a legend, let's not get carried away. Secondly, there is no right decision when it comes to veteran greats. Even had Kobe taken minimum vet deals, you think any team playing him 36 minutes a night with his defense was winning any championships? You could surround him with solid talent and he'd still take up 80% of your possessions along with bad defense. Same problem Wizards MJ would've had even if they signed great talent alongside him. That's not a payroll issue, it's a matter of playing style. Dirk, Duncan, and West are all big men who don't need extreme lateral quickness to keep up with perimeter players. It's only worked out for Duncan thus far, and he's not winning any more finals MVPs.
