Was in town for a Rockets game over the holidays, was pretty disappointed in the overall stadium experience. Contrast this to Minute Maid Park where Crane has invested millions in structural upgrades and food options. You would think that with Tilman’s background in hospitality there wouldn’t be the same crappy nuggets and pizza hut it was in 2005. I think he needs to be called out on this more, discuss.
Also there always is something odd about Toyota Center and the interior lighting. It just seems more 9-5 office look. For some reason other arenas look better inside on broadcasts.
Toyota Center is still stuck back in 2004 Tilman had me very excited when he said he was gonna upgrade the practice facilities and improve the atmosphere and overall experience at TC fast forward 5 years later, and the Rockets still have worse facilities than Strake Jesuit, and aside from having somebody shoot a free throw before the game, he has done nothing to improve the atmosphere at TC
Man was thinking this as well, but felt it may have been a reach to call out. I can genuinely see Tilman being too cheap to pay for LED bulbs
Toyota Center lighting looks much better in person…I still think they should dim the lights and make it more of a theater feel to help cover up all the empty seats
Unfortunately I haven't been to Toyota center in a while so it's hard to recall but you're probably right. It just doesn't look right over broadcast. Just looks overexposed like florescent lighting in a office cubicle.
Yet anytime we bring up how cheap he is the tilman stan will come to his defense. Still awaiting the brand new training facility he talked about it
even when the Rockets are good, Toyota Center still has many large pockets of empty seats, especially in the lower bowl it’s been times when I was there and had damn near the whole row to myself
Ya given the past decade of the Rockets being in the playoffs every season, it's obvious that play on court doesn't put butts on seats.
everything about Toyota Center is just dull same ol’ performances during timeouts for years…halftime performance usually stale…DJ still stuck in 2009…PA announcer trying to get a defense or let’s go Rockets chant going, and nobody says sh*t I miss going to playoff games tho…game 4 against the Lakers in 09, game 7 against the Clippers, and the 2018 WCF are my highlights as a fan in TC
I really feel like this could’ve been changed with some investment, Texans would sell out and be packed up until they alienated their entire fan base with Easterbunny and BOB situation. Astros are top 6 in attendance, after being a bottom team when they sucked. Even the game I went to was pretty fill considering the state of the team (Mavs around Christmas Day). If you create a fun experience along with a good product, Houston fans will show up. You have almost no chance with what they’re throwing out there right now tho.
