Here's the NBA Constitution that was released a few years ago. http://prawfsblawg.blogs.com/files/221035054-nba-constitution-and-by-laws.pdf Here are the parts that touch on gambling. This is the portion referenced in Article 13(f).
He has helped the University of Houston football program a great deal. How would he be as the owner of the Rockets? Who knows..... but he will want to win.
does any of his Golden Nuggets have sportbooks. The ones I've been to in vegas and lake charles do not
I don't know if Fertitta would be a good owner or not. He seems kind of a Mark Cuban type character. He does seem loyal to The city of Houston, and I like that. I have an open mind when it comes to Fertitta.
I hope it isn't Fertitta, who essentially destroyed Kemah and is working hard to make Galveston as screwed up as Kemah is. Fertitta is a greedy weasel, as far as I'm concerned. Be careful what you wish for.
The one in Vegas Does have a sports book. I'm 100% sure of this. The one in Lake Charles does not. It's not allowed in Louisiana.
The fact he loves to win is a big plus, the fact he's a hard ass business guy is a big negative. Agree he comes off as a weasel but that may just be a perception thing.
Feritta wants to own the Rockets badly. If they can make the money work he'll make the gambling issue a non-issue. I'm not sure he can put a winning bid together honestly, but if he can, he's not going to let his casino issue kill his dream to own the Rockets.
Question is how much is Les looking for? Undoubtedly he signed Harden to the extension to present a stable situation to any new owner. Les looking for a cool billion dollars?
"Fertitta also was one of the original investors for the Texans, serving as partner until 2008 when he had to sell his share in the franchise to comply with NFL prohibiting team owners from having an interest in gambling-related business. Fertitta owns Golden Nugget casino locations in Las Vegas, Louisiana and Mississippi. The NBA does not have such a rule that would prevent Fertitta from purchasing the Rockets." lol, lock this thread up
I'm betting Les will get offers close to $3 billion. Feritta probably can't just cash buy the Rockets. I mean maybe he can I have no idea lol, but I don't think he's THAT cash rich is he?
