Didn't realize he was number 1 in fedex points and earnings so far this year. At the same time, the general vibe people have is that Tiger is past his prime. This kind of show how good his prime was. I don't usually follow golf, but it just seem that every sports highlight show involving golf is another example of how Tiger lost it. While he isn't winning majors, would a year like this be considered as much of a failure for anyone else?
He's having a good year, and he could have won yesterday if it wasn't for that triple notetaker Tiger Woods past his prime is still the number one golfer in the world
He is the only golfer who has won 3 times on tour so far this year. Donald will drop next year since he will be gradually losing his points from his dominant 2011 year. Winning the money list on both tours was very, very impressive. IMO, Tiger will be back to number 1 by the Tour Championship.
dude has been consistently atop the leaderboards for the majority of the tournaments he's played during his winning drought... he's bound to get a couple of majors if he continues to play like this
Not sure that he'll get the 4 he still needs to tie Jack but I feel like he'll get close. I have a feeling he's going to win the PGA. He's consistently in contention in the majors and has won 3 tournaments this year. Based on his standards, that's a mediocre season. Based on everyone else's standards...that's a damn good year.
If he stays healthy, of course he will. He still needs to overcome the pressure of winning a major again, but hard to imagine Tiger not doing that.
Judging by the responses from people who seems to follow golf, it seems most actually are aware that Tiger is doing good. For someone who follows only the highlights on ESPN, like I've said it's surprising. ESPN (and most sports coverage) is constantly making it seem like Tiger is done. I would've guessed Tiger is like mid 20-ish in the world. Good but no longer in the top tier of golfers.
FWIW, Tiger's 3 wins this year have all come on courses that he is VERY familiar with and successful at. He has little experience at Kiawah, but he will get in his practice time. Also, with how much wind there will likely be at the PGA this year, I think Tiger will struggle if he relies on the baby fade. I'm not saying he can't win (because I think he will obviously be the favorite), but this major has Euro champion written all over it. I think that this could be where Westwood gets his first. Who knows though?
