Wait. What about his play has told you he is a bust? I mean he could be but it is way to early to tell. Especially for someone who didn't have alot of PT.
coachbadlee doesn't have the best track record... But your constant whining of trading a mediocre player in Patterson doesn't make you look much better.
It's too early to be 100% certain. Doesn't mean there isn't a significant enough body of data giving us useful information about the guy's future probabilities. Thomas Robinson has struggled in his 1052 NBA minutes in terms of both numerical and non-numerical measurements. He racked up ORtg and TS% that were among in the bottom 10% of 21-year-old rookies getting more than trivial minutes. This is not a comparison with all NBA players, including vets, this is a comparison with only other 21-year-old rookies. He also had one team trading him after half a season and his second team benching him for good after putting him in the rotation for a significant number of games. His coaches and one of his GMs don't think much about his ability to help them win games. 1052 minutes is not a trivial sample size. Consider this: Robinson got into the conversation for a top 5 pick largely because of his junior year, in which he led Kansas to the NCAA Finals. In that season, he played 1242 minutes. Many other college players see their stock rise or fall based on one NCAA season's worth of minutes, which is most often around 1000 or less. If 1242 college minutes can make teams feel significantly more positive about a player's future, 1052 NBA minutes should also be useful data in judging a player's prospects.
T-Rob is too hard to project right now because he's so raw. Unfortunately he looks like the second coming of Stromile Swift. He spent 2-3 years at Kansas and now a full year in the NBA. When you're 21 yrs old you're not going to get significantly better. What you see is what you get usually.
Robinson is basically the opposite of Patterson, he's an exceptional defender, a good rebounder, and an absolutely terrible shooter. Patterson on the other hand is a very good shooter, can't rebound at all and is a lousy defender.
I think the people hating on the poll might not understand the pattern. I thought it was creative. Robinson has a lot of potential and people are sleeping on him the same way they overrate the guys they see on TV more often.
I'm sure that's not the only thing they don't understand. Like Olajuwon For instance, Seems like Several members Underestimate Clutch City. At least King James doesn't and trained with Dream
I don't get Thomas Robinson. He was on the Sacramento Kings who seemed to be shopping DeMarcus Cousins because they drafted him, but then he gets shipped out instead. Then he goes to the Rockets who have a need at PF and yet Robinson can't get any decent minutes. There must be something broken about him that is more evident at practice. He was supposed to be one of the most prized draft picks, but this season was certainly a setback. In fact, the whole draft class was a bit of a bust. This was supposed to be a monster draft class but it doesn't seem so at this point.
Thomas Robinson found himself thrown into the Rockets playoff hunt so he really didn't get the minutes to develop behind a lot of talented young PFs that already knew the system. He will mostly likely be used to clear cap space when the Rocket's sign Dwight this Summer.
What are you talking about? This draft class was perfect. Many players from both rounds of the draft were breakout stories this season. Barnes, Draymond Green, Ezeli, MKG, Lillard, Davis, Waiters, Ross, Drummond, Henson just to name a few.
Well no, what was wrong was readily apparent in the limited sample he did play. 1. he like, really couldn't score. he had a guard like FG% while taking zippo 3s, that's a terrible combination. to add insult to injury, he made Dwight Howard look like a free throw expert with an unimaginably bad .421 FT% ... yes, he shot Free throws worst than some guys shoot 3s. 2. he's listed at 6'9 but is really more like 6'7 1/2 , though wing span does make up for it to some extend, being generally shorter still has problems, which can be seen in him getting blocked / redirected a lot in the paint. he finished around the rim worse than almost anyone on the team. 3. He has a turn over rate on par with a ok point guard... which is terrible because on average PG have the highest turnover rates due to them making most of the tough passes. 4. for a guy who suck this bad at shooting, he sure is taking a lot of them : he took 11.4 shots per 36 min on the floor. to put that in perspective, Jeremy Lin took 12.2 Per and Patrick Beverly took 9.7 per 36. with the way he shoots he should take no more than 7-8 attempt and make damn sure all of them are slam dunks (literally and figuratively). To summarize, in short, he's one of the worst NBA player on offense this year. when ever the ball ends up in his hands, bad things happen. His defense was a saving grace , and it's a good sign that a rookie knows anything about playing D and grabbing boards, as he amazingly posted the best defensive rating on the team (2 points better than Asik), unfortunately he also posted by far the worst offensive rating of anyone that saw the floor for more than 200 minutes for the team.... the only guy even remotely close to being as bad as he was was Cole Aldrich, everyone else was at LEAST 13 points above him, 13!!!!!!) He needs to find some way to making him self at least moderately competent on offense to be a servicable player. he either needs to remember / learn how to shoot, or he's going to have to completely change his approach on offense.
