As a point guard, you ought to both. If you are only good at scoring (Troy Hudson) or passing (Mark Jackson in his late stage), you are the best a role player. Same theory, as a superstar center, you need to rebound and score.
What can we do about it? Our best player has no heart and our second best player has no brain. Bad combination. Yao need to go to army to have some military training this summer while Steve need to go back to college to finish his degree.
Just wondering what everybody thinks--how much of this blame do you think should rest on JVG's shoulders? I mean, isn't this what he brought him in here to do? For a "no-nonsense" coach, there's a hell of a lot of nonsense going on out on the floor. Could Rudy have done a better job with this year's team? I still think the move was a good thing just because our defense is so much better than it used to be. But it's interesting to think about. DaDakota--I think you're right on with the Yao-Passion and Steve-Brains idea. That would solve most of this team's problems. Ahhhh, being a Rocket fan is amazing.
you forgot to add; he misses layups; he throws up bricks like crazy, he turns it over like crazy, he cant pass worth crap.
It would seem JVG cannot Coach players he can only coach 'JVG type' Players so he bringing in old Knicks He has taken SF's Aggression on offense Rocket River
Don't blame JVG- there isn't a good coach in the league who would try to play to Steve Francis' strengths- which is dribble, dribble, dribble iso. Any good coach, R. Carlisle, L. Brown, P. Jackson, Pops, etc they would all try to get Steve to play more within the team and more fundamentally sound. All JVG is asking for is fewer turnovers and better execution. All the basics. Even Shaq is executes the triangle. And he doesn't have to, he could go for his 40 pts per game demanding the ball all the time if he wanted to be that kind of player.
