You could have simply said that they be hatin'.

 

Can you really blame “them” though?

Rockets ranked 28th in assists in 2017, 2018 and are currently ranked 28th again so far this year. A large basis of making small ball work and thus being beautiful is playing uptempo, passing & movement without the ball. We were literally NONE of those things.

Sure we won lots of games but can you honestly say our offense these past few years was fun to watch when guys missed 3’s and everyone else stood around watching Harden walk the ball up the court and iso?

I’m as excited as anybody about last nights win and our future but 1 game isn’t going to change people’s opinion about an identity based upon the last 3 seasons. PHX and GSW built their identity and label based upon doing something consistently over the course of multiple seasons.

As a reference:

From 2005-2010 Phoenix led the league in assists for 2 years and was top 5 every other season during that stretch.

From 2015-2019 GSW ranked # 1 in assists every year during that period.

 

I’m not normally on the “they hate us” bandwagon, but Rockets win not even on the NBA front page on ESPN.
They do have a nice LeBron highlight though.

 

Just be happy now, why turn on other posters when you play winning ball?

WB turned out to be helluva player and CP3 is flourishing in OKC too. Win win for both franchises.

It shows how the NBA and sports world is far from innovative, against change, full of old people who clamour for the good old days and young “journalists” trying to make a name for themselves by just spewing negativity.

Social media has made click bait titles, negative and wild opinions good business so this has contributed to that as well. The days of serious sports journalism is dying. I do miss that, the Ernie J who had good discussions at half time and post.

Look at the Warriors who were said even after they won that jump shooting teams don’t win...why not embrace a team trying to go outside of the norm. I know we’re going to an extreme but just dumping the ball into a center or forward 30-40 times a game was somehow the golden era?

Look at how Rudy T’s still treated just because he did something unconventional, which is shooting a lot of threes, spread out the court and then later exploiting iso ball. Still does not get the love he deserves, makes me wonder how they talked about him in the 90s and early 00s when it happened.
