NBA ref miss call ALL the time. Every teams and coach complain about it. Every fan complain about it. Coach initiated challenge is a way to correct that. But yes, limit it in the interest of the flow of the game, and also in the interest of not penalizing valid challenges. Up to 2 incorrect challenges per game could do it. p.s. with this limited challenge system in place, if the game bog down to an unwatchable level, well, that's because the nba ref sucks. Time for tech to assists them or take over them.
It's like in school - kids who regularly behave badly are taken for granted and if they continue to act out, it's just their normal behavior and is shrugged off, but if you're a good kid and you do anything even close to out of line, teacher's yelling at you, making you stay after school and probably putting in a call to your parents. I saw Dennis Rodman in a game spit in a ref's face and then literally headbutt him, no T. But Hakeem once got T'd up because he made some comment about a ref facing God's judgment for his actions. *shrug*
To be fair, if Hakeem said that to me I would be up all night in a cold sweat hoping that I wouldn't get smote by the hand of the almighty. Also, I've been waiting for karmic justice to befall Draymond Green, but no luck so far.
You can limit the number of challenges. And if the challenge fails, you lose a timeout, like what football does.
Because Harden made a running, contested 3 pointer over two guys with one second left, lol. There was also the Durant body-check on Tucker which drew a foul on Tucker. That was a big pivotal play that we're not talking about because it's just overshadowed by this being so blatant. Finally, Draymond fouled Harden on the final 3, too. It's pretty hard to make an apology case for the refs this time.
