I missed Magloire and Redd as All-Stars, but those seem like accidents. Good for them. I now think this could be worse than that draft.
feels like Clingan is a smokescreen by a bunch of NBA GMs to fool some GM to believe the hype and take Clingan high so that they can get the actual guy they want. On tape it looked like Clingan was more of a lumbering big type.. but the combine results with him being last or near last in every category just confirms it.
Clingan and Edey are definitely hyped because of one tournament. And because the Timberwolves had a terrific season with bigs. Both have good size but that cannot be enough.
I think there are Star Players at the Top. There is always a Austin Rivers, Jimmer Fredette, JJ Reddick overrated Players in the Lottery.
Who rated Clingan as a High Lottery Pick, Dude looks like Early 2nd Pick. Reed Sheppard looks like a late 1st Round Pick his measurables is terrible. Reed is literally 6'0 at best without shoes. 6'7 NBA defenders will disrupt his shot.
It is probably premature to call it the weakest draft but also too early to call it a decent draft. Just call it mediocre until it proves to be decent or stellar. Brother Hindsight always rules with Father Time.
So, can someone give me some perspective. Without any hindsight, where would our past lottery picks (Green, Jabari, Amen) be projected to go in this draft?
Green and Jabari #1 for sure. Amen number #2 maybe? Only cause of the unknown of being an OTE product and comp level imo.
There’s a chance at #3, but I won’t say there’s a good chance. And the chance is lower than some years but I’m guessing not by much. Without looking up the stats I would guess off the top of my head within the top 5 your odds are probably around 7% that the player becomes an all star. However there’s probably more like a 49% chance they are a quality rotation player so there’s still a ton to be hopeful about but little reason to get too worked up worrying that they might or might not be an MVP caliber superstar.
It has been called that because the Highlight of someone like Sarr looks like the 8 or 9th pick in a star studded draft. That is why, I give you that average looking guys can make an All Star Game these days and that Austin Reaves has become a Team US player. *(Stand corrected: Austin was undrafted even)
If you can make a case for projected 15th pick being better than projected 1st pick that draft class sucks.
Funny thing is that if Wemby and Cam Whitmore became the best 2 Players in last year's draft. While Wemby would still be better, 20th pick would be viewed as a 2nd Overall Pick (no disrespect to Brandon Miller or Amen/Ausar)
