For some odd reason, it seems that the Sonics will not give Gary Payton the contract extension that he wants. So I've been thinking of a trade that might work like this: Houston sends Kenny Thomas, Cuttino Mobley, Moochie Norris and a future draft pick to Seattle for Gary Payton and Brent Barry. Now, before yall jump all over me, consider this: Payton has said he has another good 3-4 years left in him, so don't think that he'll be gone in a year or so. Francis would move to the shooting guard spot, where I personally think he's more valuable. So the lineup looks like this C- Yao Ming/Kelvin Cato PF- Maurice Taylor/Eddie Griffin SF- Glen Rice/ Bostjan Nachbar SG- Steve Francis/ Brent Barry PG- Gary Payton/ Tito Maddox or Tierre Brown I think this would actually work for Houston, and it also works for Seattle as well.
Why do people want to trade Cat? Cuttino wasn't even supposed to be good (late 2nd rd pick), he is grossly underpaid and he lives up to his name "SHOOTING Guard" and is pretty good at it.
Nope, I wouldn't do it. I like the Mobley/Francis duo and think Steve should be a PG. Mobley is pretty good, you know. He compares very well with other all-star sg's. Not to mention that although Gary may be here for 3-4 years, we may be able to keep Mobley and Steve for longer since they're friends and Steve just got his deal. I also would not want to give up another 1st pick. We already don't have one for next year. But this is just my opinion.
This trade Shooter had. KT is traded along with a pick for no picks. (and other stuff as well are in the trade.) I was talking about this trade since it is the point of the thread. In another thread, we may get a pick in a trade with KT, but not this one.
I know you are fed up waiting! Its time to stop the imposible, crazy trade suggestions! If you know the Rox, just be calm and let it happen!
If we did that, there would be silence with occasional chirps from crickets. I'd rather deal with trade speculation than that.
Can we please have some consistency in the lineup? Have you been watching the Dream Team getting whooped by the International teams? That is a perfect example of how chemistry can be more important then pure star power.
just wondering... how long do you think before the rockets will seriously be contenders? how long do you think mobley will have an edge with his quick first step and ability to get his shot off? he's 28 years old...he's not old, but not really young either (at least three(~2.5) years older than francis, taylor, thomas, griffin, ming, and nachbar) i definitely think he'll be good until his contract ends (2006?), but i would think we'd have to consider another starter at sg or sign him to a short contract i guess it would also be good to have the lineup stable for the younger players as they grow...
I believe he is 27. He was born in 75. A team does need some veterans you know. That is what Cuttino is. A veteran. Not every player has to be below the age of 23.
lol. a big hell no to the trade too. in 3 years cat will be more valuable than gary and that's when i see us in big time contention.
Good point... But with the Dream Team, they had the best lineup in the tourney. The Rockets have far from the best lineup in the NBA... Your idea holds more weight, if we had a better lineup.
