Unbelievable. Never mind his record as a would-be lawyer or judge. His professional incompetence should be enough. But to have nine women, some of them lifelong republicans, tearfully coming forward to tell their (disturbingly consistent) stories, and then say, "yeah, well, at least he's not a democrat"? How low can our country go, if this "person" ends up in the Senate.

I think that the bigger lesson we should all be learning here is that old people cannot be trusted.

Also, anyone under the age of ~30.

Yes, Moore should have been disqualified before any of this came out. But these Republicans who choose party over being anti-child molestation are showing who they are and what they (don't) stand for.

I don't get what the big fuss is about. It's not like the ten commandments said Thou Shall Not Rape girls before the age of consent.

Let's talk about the godless liberals who want to take down Christian America with their Socialist Justice!

I am disappointed that the people of Alabama didn't shun this guy back when he was hanging out at the mall.

So obvious it doesn't need to be said.

However, watching the daily political theater makes this fact smack you in the face every single day.

Moore is pretty much proof that God does not exist as it was stated in religious books.

Out of curiosity ... how so? How does Moore contradict anything the Bible or other religious books claim?

Would a God who cares about people on this earth let someone like Moore exist, after all he is all powerful and all knowing, in all times and all dimensions I assume. That means there is no mystery to him, he know exactly what he is going to get when he made Moore's soul. You can say the same thing about the Devil, Hilter, the snake etc.

Moore and Trump are almost the same. Con men using religion, fear and hate to win over fools. At the end of the day, so-called Christian on the right will vote Moore in at a 90% rate.

It should be noted that Billy Graham always said that one of his biggest regrets was coming out in poltical support for Richard Nixon.

Now you have Franklin Graham and the other leaders of the Evangelical political movement not only repeating the sins of their fathers but compounding them.

At this point it’s really a duty for Christians around the globe to start speaking out against this movement. We always say that it’s the responsibility of peaceful Muslims to speak out against radicalized Muslim groups and it should be the same for radical politicized religious groups as well.

not sure why these people debase themselves trying to excuse Moore's behavior

you can condemn him and still advocate voting for him. It'd be nice if they were good people, but character doesn't really enter my calculus in a general election. I start from the presumption that they are all of low character. It's purely transactional, I'm hiring them to do a job.

if the alternative to voting Moore are policy outcomes you find morally objectionable, not voting for him is cutting off your nose to spite your face.

The opportunity to select an alternative of higher character is during the next primary.

Of course he would - at least, the one in the Bible. It pretty explicitly states that, in fact. I'm not sure why Moore would serve be the proof of God not existing as described in the Bible but Hitler, Dahmer, and other crazy criminals throughout history wouldn't.

and people wonder why politicians are scum? Seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's really your fault, and you are indicative of a general voting population that lacks morals themselves. Talk about hypocritical.

point is, whether they are scum or not is of less concern than what they would do with the power we vest in them

It's a consistent and defensible position. We all have to admit we hold our noses to some extent (maybe not child rape extent or p***y grabbing extent), but each time one of us does this, from either party, we exacerbate the problem of having the worst humans of our society actually having power in our society.

Low character people tend to do low character things. This is a fact of life and has been proven to be incontrovertibly correct for all of history. Bad people tend to do bad things. Roy Moore understood what he did was wrong yet kept doing it. It is likely, as all of history has proven, that Roy Moore if given the power will be inclined to act immorally and unethically.

Bottom line here is that your position is abhorrent and if most of the country feels like you do, no wonder why 1. politicans are corrupt and 2. the country is headed in the wrong direction. You have no problem bestowing power to bad people, and you think that is going to benefit society going forward.

To be frank, you should be ashamed that you think this way. You aren't trying to fix the problem, you ARE the problem.
