They didn't trade up because they didn't want Bridgewater.

Ah, so in your mind Clowney is equivalent to Greg Oden? That's brilliant, tell me more.

At this point I would take Bridgewater's almost full game over anything we've gotten from Sua-Filo right now.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

    Thank - YOU.

Sua-Filo pick + the pick we used to move up for Nix for Bridgewater in a heart beat.

The Texans could have had him, but they blew it.

    Par for the course.

Why? We'd still need a QB even if we'd have done that....only then we'd need guard depth and have no hope at NT.

You don't know that. Bridgewater could turn into a legit NFL starting QB. Something we don't have. But then again your previous QB talent evaluations have been spot on. After week 3 in the preseason you said Keenum should be the starter, and last offseason you said we should have kept Schaub.

So now you're going around already dismissing Bridgewater's potential as a QB. Odd that you say the Texans would need a better QB than Bridgewater even though your position has always been you don't need that good of a QB to win in the NFL..so what is it?

What I said last year was that Schaub turning things around was the only hope the Texans had to win.....and I stand by that. The fact that he didn't turn things around doesn't mean that I was wrong.

I really don't want to get into it with Bridgwater fanboys again because I know they aren't capable of being rational when it relates to him but he hasn't shown anything at all to make any serious person think he could be a legit NFL starting QB.....but I guess that's how blind fandom works.

At least the Manziel fans have tempered their nonsense for the minute, but I'm sure as soon as he is forced into the game and completes a few garbage time passes his fans will be back posting BS about how the Texans blew the draft.

OBrien seems like the type who is hard headed and thinks he is right even when everybody else disagrees with him. I think he thought (thinks) he could (can) win with Fitzpatrick.

I still have hope for XSF and Nix though.

You don't need a very good QB to win but when you don't have a very good QB you are always looking for one. Would the Texans be able to win some games with Bridgewater? Sure, just like they'll win some games with Fitz. Is that supposed to mean that we don't need a QB right now?

I get it.. You don't think Bridgewater will amount to anything.

While I believe he will develop into a great player.

    Only time will tell.

For now I would rather have hope at the QB position than "guard depth" and a rookie NT who is injured and out of shape.

Fair enough, we'll have to agree to disagree, I don't see that "hope" that you seem to see.

I'm neutral on the Bridgewater thing, but aren't the supporters a wee bit overzealous here?

Case Keenum first start against one of the top defenses last year, 15-25, 271, 1TD/0INT. Bridgewater first start against one of the worst defenses this year, 12-20, 150 0TD/0INT.

I'm not saying Bridgewater's going to be a bust. But let's wait til he's better than Keenum and Fitzpatrick first before debating whether we should've picked him or not.

    Bridgewater didn't start today's game.

New Orlean's defense is underachieving, but it's certainly not void of talent.

It's literally the worst pass defense in the NFL. It's not void of talent, it's just not as good as any other pass defense in the NFL.

To be fair we are 3 games into the season. Matt Ryan throwing for 450 yards on them certainly hurts their "pass defense" rating.

What hurts most is we could have had BOTH Clowney and Bridgewater...

All of us would have been happy.

Brian Hoyer looked like a good QB against them. That might be worse than saying "Ryan Fitzpatrick had a good game than them."

24/40, 200 yards, 1TD, 80 QB Rating is nothing to write home about...

No, the Bridgewater people would be even more upset, Cassel got hurt so they'll get to see their guy play, Fitz isn't hurt so Bridgewater would still be on the bench.
