It’s just bad luck to have your window coincide with the window of a dynasty. The Warriors are beatable BUT do I see the Rockets being that team? No, this is an embarrassment to Clutch City. Rebuild? In time with age it will happen.
56% of people who voted are complete idiots. If by rebuild you mean try to re-tool around Harden as best as possible, then sure we should certainly do that. But rebuilding and wasting any of Harden's prime years hoping to score in the draft is f**king stupid. People really, really take being a great team for granted. Prior to Harden we had won one damn playoff series in almost 20 years. If we don't get something done with him in the next 3-4 years it may be another 2 decades before we matter again.
Its obvious limitations being that we couldn't beat a team with a team with 3 all-stars in their prime (Green, Thompson, Curry) plus a former all-star that is still a defensive ace (Iguodola) along with the two all-stars in their prime injured for Game 6 (Durant and Cousins) yet not lose a single game by double digits?
Agreed... plus considering how the lottery was reformatted... there is even less incentive to try to tank.
Retool around Harden is the only viable option. No way do you ever trade a player like him unless he demands to be traded. You see what happened with the Spurs and KL. Yeah- they got some value back but not near enough. They would have been much better off with KL. The rest of our players are role players. They can come and go. CP3, Capela, and EG need to go. They are too expensive for what they bring at this point. We need to define our core one more time and take our last shot. We have ~4 years to get it done.
marc gasol, who's the same age as CP3/tucker, looked AWFUL last nite. harden will have an even heavier load to carry next season. and capela isn't getting any better -- if he hasn't learned any bball skills from hakeem after all these years it's not gonna magically happen for him this summer. we have no picks. we have no capspace. we have no prospects. the window is all but closed. we're like the '93-'95 blazers. only a matter of time before we trade harden to give him a chance for a ring elsewhere.
In my opinion capela was the biggest disappointment. It was pretty obvious cp3 was gonna decline, but we didn't think he'd decline that fast. But Capela being so young, yet hasn't improved at all is much worse. I'm sure we'd still be in the playoffs, if capela hadn't missed all those free throws or at least could rebound effectively. He's been reduced to a skinny DeAndre Jordan with subpar defense. I haven't lost hope for him completely. If brook Lopez of all people could transform his game, then capela can surely do that. I think he could get a decent midrange game, but that is heavily discouraged by our franchise.
Nah we have next season and potentially the next with CP3 still providing enough. Let’s see what Morey does before we declare death. Harden isn’t even 30 yet, he’s got at least three seasons left at peak play probably more with his play style. I think as long as we have Harden and Morey we have a chance.
Window doesn’t close until Harden retires. We still have a top 5 player in the league. Stop with the nonsense.
Tanking when you're still a top 5 team in the NBA seems crazy to me. This trend continues everyone except 2 or 3 teams will tank every year.
Sports success, or business success, isn't that complicated to figure out. It comes down to competent, professional management. There's a reason the Suns continue to suck, and its not because they got unlucky. They have a horrible owner who has hired horrible c-level executives. I've got no clue if Tillman is a good or bad owner. I do think DM is a top 10 GM. The only reason it took so long for him to find his first superstar was because of Les Alexander's insane insistence on remaining a 7-10 seed every year. There's an alternate universe out there where DM was allowed to "tank" and the Rockets ended up with Steph Curry in the lottery instead of the GSW. As for a FA destination... are the Bucks a FA destination? Were the Warriors a FA destination for 15 years there? Is Denver a FA destination? When you have a plan, are working towards it, building positive momentum, look like you can make a run, and have spots and fits and cap space for the appropriate people, you'll attract free agents. It doesn't mean every summer KD or Lebron is available you're going to sign them.
The GSW won 1 playoff series in 18 years. Heck, they only went to the playoffs once in 18 years, and had that miracle 8vs1 upset of the Mavs. You're absolutely right that a rebuild isn't a quick process, typically. But throwing out random examples can be done both ways. The 76ers of course were in the playoffs 10 of 14 years, made a Finals, made it to the 2nd round+ 4 times, but on the last time were like this isn't working, have to do something drastic. It comes down to management. Moreover, part of the push for moving on RIGHT NOW, is to shortcut a rebuild. I have absolutely confidence that in 4 years, when the rebuild will actually start, it will be a long one, because they won't then have meaningful assets to turn into a quick rebuild.
LOL, that's for absolute sure. That someone would have be @DaDakota EDIT: well a quick search, I can't do DD dirty like that. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php...c-than-monta-ellis.170620/page-3#post-4595535 He liked Curry ahead of Rubio!! But he liked Rubio ahead of Harden Another gem from that time period: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php?threads/is-stephen-curry-an-upgrade-over-aaron-brooks.170234/ Glad I didn't post there!
