40 posts and 4 days straight on the first page....... and counting......

I guess this thread isn't so pointless now, is it?

I hope your enjoying this Ceddy. Those who wrongfully bashed you and tried to dismiss your thread are now the one eating the crow. Come out from hiding Ceddy and enjoy it. This is your time, your lil' moment.....

And who know's.... Maybe this will encourage other newbies like Ceddy, who have chosen to "lurk" around here due to the fear of "unnecessary backlash" their thread might generate, to finally speak up and share there opinions and maybe a little knowledge....if were lucky.

    :)

    1. Spurs (Regular Season Champs Always Kick it into gear)
Additions of Brent Barry give them killer outside shooter and Parker is a year older. Plus the only team that scared them was the Shaq/Kobe Lakers of yesterday. Now they know they can win.
    2. Sacramento (If Healthy still very dangerous!)
Webber/Peja/Miller/Bibby etc still are a great team but will feel the loss of Divac.

    3. Houston Rockets (T-Mac/Yao) Nuff Said! It may take them some time to get acclimated, but this duo is killer.
Role Players like Jim Jackson/Mo Taylor/ Juwon Howard/ Sura

    4. Denver Nuggets A year older Carmelo, adding Kenyon Martin to a good core. They have youth, smarts and a team that will prosper in the regular season. Though their lack of a dominant post up player will hurt them in the post-season

    5. Memphis Grizzlies: See Nuggets about Post Season

    6. Minnesota Timberwolves: KG. Ok, but who else? Sam's hip is a lingering issue and Spree is getting older as well. Who else do they have? Olowokandi is a bust! May thrive in the playoffs, but regular season will lose steam.

    7. Dallas Mavericks: Adding the Ex- Golden State center will bulk them up but also will slow them down. The loss of Steve Nash will be devastating. He created the offense and got shots for EVERYONE. Who is the playmaker? Finley and Dirk are shooters but don't create much for others.

    8. Phoenix: Amare/Marion/Johnson/Q Rich/Steve Nash
That group should give other teams fits as they can run and push the ball. Steve Nash's health and age are a concern.

    9. LA Lakers: Kobe and !?!?! No one. I love Rudy and think Kobe is a great player, but Odom/Grant cannot guard the paint or make others free up Kobe. He may have a stellar year, point wise, but his shooting %'s will fall and they'll be mediocre which doesn't cut it in the wild west.

    10. Portland: They have the talent to do will w/ Stoudamire/Van Exel/ Rahim/ Randolph/ Anderson, but their chemistry is horrible and Randolph gets weapons charges over the summer to add to the fun.

    11. Seattle: Same problem: Allen/Vlad/Rashard/Flip : All their best players, play the wing. Someone has to create and someone has to post up.

so how will the playoof seeding work, if i may ask? is it just the top 8 season records or do the division winners get 1-3 no matter their record and then the rest fall into place?

Division winners get the top 3 seeds, and 4-8 is by record, but:

    1. Homecourt goes to the team with the better record regardless of seeding.

    2. They reseed for the second round. This is to prevent the top two teams (recordwise) from meeting in the second round if they happen to be from the same division ala the Pistons and Pacers.

i knew about the division winners getting the first 3 seeds, but i didnt know about the rest. the reseeding can really shake things up. it also makes things much easier for better teams.

    e.g.

in years past, if the 8th seeded team were to advance, they would play the winner of the 4/5 matchup. this year they would be reseeded to play probably the #2 seed.

Don't let these guys get to you Ceddy...most of these feel they own the BBS and they'd say the sky is red if some newbie said it was blue! Just let them spout off for their own sake, if it gets them off. Now for the standings: the Lakers won't make the playoffs...you read it here first. Selfish Kobe has the team to himself, but he won't lead them anywhere!
