LOL... trump supporters celebrating that Uganda president loves trump and his "talks to Africans frankly"... For trump supporters: Uganda's president seized power during a military coup in 1986 and was "re-elected" under controversy. Uganda's government is seen as one of the more corrupt in the world. While I know there are some similarities to trump are you so sure this is the guy you want to hitch your horses to?
Not one of the worst Trump moments. But, I am pretty doubtful on the wisdom of this policy. Maybe it would have made sense a decade ago, but even then I'd hope there was a better way to handle dumping. Today, you're not going to be able to revive American PV manufacturing, but it should depress the segment of the value chain that is domestic -- retail. Maybe this is a roundabout way of saving coal by r****ding deployment of solar generation?
I'm not up in arms about the PV tariff decision. It's phased, meant to give some American producers a chance to catch up, actually. Bloomberg (radio) has had some very convincing coverage of this recently. It will definitely hurt a few of the larger projects that are, say, halfway done and were counting on a bunch of cheap solar panels from overseas. But the estimates I'm seeing are that homeowner type consumers will only see a few % points increase in their projects. And as the entire technology keeps plummeting in price (projected to continue), this tariff will be a relatively minor speed bump.
