Ya know I would rather have Zimmerman from Cincy then Cowher or Lovie. I like the idea of Shaw for Stanford.... The season got a whole lot more interesting today LOL
Hopefully they have already contacted David Shaw. A) he in my opinion is the best coach potentially available. B) I would love for his mind to be elsewhere when they play in the Pac-12 Championship tomorrow.
Since Rick Smith is likely to stay and keep his job, I don't see Bill Cowher nor Gruden working with this guy, so don't get your hopes up.
Why everyone is so high on this guy, I never followed him or paid attention to his coaching career, is he really that good...?
Why would you want to have a defensive coordinator with no coaching experience then having 2 proven good coaches with good resumes...?
I think its gonna be Lovie or Shaw, if Lovie I see them going hard for Hue Jackson as OC and keeping Wade on as DC. If Shaw I think uncle Bob will clean out the cabinet and let him choose his own (alabama's dc Smart) staff
I don't like the prospect of any coach to work under Rick Smith. And I'm not enamored with the idea of any new coach bring along their own GM ala Kubiak with Rick Smith. I want a GM and have him hire a coach. But I doubt that will happen.
I'll pass on Shaw because his offense just doesn't fit our players on the roster at all. He runs power football and we have guys that are "light" for lineman in the ZBS.
Our light ZBSing OL struggled this season. I am betting that Wade Smith (LG) and Derek Newton (RT) are gone. Brandon Brooks (RG) struggled with the ZBS but might be a better fit for a power run scheme. If Shaw is brought in and he wants a power run scheme, the Texans could draft a RT with their second round pick and sigh a LG FA and they would be good to go.
