Interesting bump. I read the first 50 pages again (I'm a fast reader) and it's a trip to revisit the reactions when the deal was announced. It was pretty mixed, which seems hard to believe now, but a lot of people hated losing the picks and Lamb. I was really excited about the deal the moment I heard the news and still find it hard to fathom why OKC went in that direction. What a huge mistake by Presti, and such a brilliant move by Daryl Morey. If Daryl ever does Tarot Card readings, sign me up!
If he can prove that he's more than a sixth man, then I'll be happy. Not sure it was worth it to lose Kmart and Lamb over this, but at the very least we know that he can play with a rising young star in Jeremy Lin. I hope we can look back on this in 5 years as a steal, but I'm not holding my breath.
this thread has me thinking again about how badly OKC fcked up Russ won the MVP and averaged a 30 point triple double KD won FMVP and averaged 35, 8, and 5 on 56% shooting in the finals Harden is going to win the MVP award, had a 60 point triple double, ended Wesley Johnson’s career, and is leading the Rockets to the best record in the NBA this was all just in the past year
Even after those amazing two first games as a Rocket, a lot of Clutchfans.net thought that was pretty much his ceiling. I was really happy he was better than I imagined he would be back then - marginally better than Kmart (smh). No one (very few) thought Harden would get even better. Not even Morey. No one anticipated Harden would continue to add to his game. Just like Dream, Harden added one move to his offensive game every year. Now, 6 years later, Harden is almost unstoppable.
Oklahoma did not deserve that dynasty. That was the universe correcting itself & of course the last one there is Russ lmao
@DreamShook you went above and beyond disliking this move. I still can't believe you tried to compare Kevin ****ing Martin to James Harden. Maybe your pessimism in this thread was the ultimate sacrifice for Harden becoming the player he is today. We look back and shake our heads at what you said, but perhaps this was your plan all along. I am not worthy.
I was glad we got Harden and thought he could become a superstar (voted yes on the poll), but I was still curious to see how Lamb would pan out after he won UCONN the championship and had a good summer league (lol).
