Today, the Rockets where supposed to be at Jewish Community Center, they never showed, and I sat there and watched rabbis play 2 ball, {seriously}, while the crowd went wild and continuous compliments by Steve Mark from channel 2 about Rabbi Goldsteins Jumper. Not a fun way to spend the day after your 14th birthday. :{ ------------------ "He busts out the whooping stick" Rich Eisen but thought of by Airbh

That is VERY odd. I know of a number of community events scheduled today but not that one. I'll check around for you. ------------------ Save Our Rockets and Comets SaveOurRockets.com

Did the Jam Van show up? I did speak to them about this on Saturday and they mentioned that the Jam Van would be out there but did not mention players. If the Jam Van didn't even make it, I can only assume that something wierd happened. I know at least 6 of the players were scheduled at events throughout Houston on Sunday. ------------------ Save Our Rockets and Comets SaveOurRockets.com
The Jam Van was there and there was supposed to be a rabbis vs the rockets but they never showed. ------------------ "He busts out the whooping stick" Rich Eisen but thought of by Airbh
I didn't know that there were any Jewish Rockets. Maybe it was the Jewish Rockets that were supposed to be there, and no one told the PR dept. that there were not any. Just a thought... ------------------ "Stranger things have happened, but none stranger than this" - Commentator after a parachutist landed in the ring of a Holyfield fight
I totally agree. This is one of those things I want to address with the team after this stadium thing is over. On the whole, they do a very good job and really work hard to make things go well at events, but sometimes thing just slip through the cracks. This is a good example of that. ------------------ Save Our Rockets and Comets SaveOurRockets.com
I still get the feeling, especially through stories you've shared Jeff, that the Rockets are a first class organization, and that this shouldn't reflect on them as a whole. However, I'd be pissed too, Airbh! ------------------ When you make an assumption, you make an ass out of yourself and umption. visit www.swirve.com

RM95: They are a terrific organization. From observation, I can say that they work extremely hard for their fans and the players are really nice people. Like any other company, they are there for profit and they make mistakes, but they really do care about their causes. I've seen some suggest that their charity is more about publicity than helping and I can tell you that is absolutely false. The care a great deal about those in need and really mean well. It is sometimes hard to remember that this is a company that hires around 100 people who all have lives outside of the organization when they can. Many of them work 60+ hour work weeks just to make sure games go well, broadcasts come off on time and players are where they are supposed to be. They are dedicated and do their best. Sometimes, their best isn't enough for everyone, but whose best ever is? I wouldn't want to do their jobs. They work their asses off and I'm too damn lazy for that. ------------------ Save Our Rockets and Comets SaveOurRockets.com

How was the turnout? If it was very low, there is the chance that players may have been told not to go. Generally, if there are only a few people there, players sometimes will be asked by the team to go to another event. I don't care for this policy, myself, but it is not uncommon. ------------------ Save Our Rockets and Comets SaveOurRockets.com
Man, that's a pretty crappy policy. ------------------ When you make an assumption, you make an ass out of yourself and umption. visit www.swirve.com
Jeff wrote: " ... and I'm too damn lazy for that ..." Ah, you may want some to think you are lazy, but I happen to know you work pretty hard for a long-haired, musically-inclined, community-minded, tree huggin', persistent, family-caring, articulate, fanatical perfectionist. And that's just the part I'm sure of .... my spies from Istanbul and Paraguay are chasing down leads on your eating and cooking habits. Report will be on my desk soon ..... So, don't say you're lazy!
Lazy would be the last word I'd use to describe Jeff. I know of a local organization that seems to have modeled itself after the Rockets-the Austin Ice Bats. Every employee I talked to out there absolutely loves the team and their fans. Great organization, go support them and see some good fights in the process. ------------------ When you make an assumption, you make an ass out of yourself and umption. visit www.swirve.com
