But then, that means the Rockets win last year, with only 2 stars.

If all teams were healthy, I think the Cavs win last year too. The Rockets with 2 legit stars would have made a lot of noise and probably even win the West, but I think the Cavs win the whole thing.

Nah dude, didn't you hear Morey and the people on this board? Just need 3 stars, that's all it takes... That other stuff is just distracting from the lack of stars on the court.

None of the Warriors big three were superstars 3 years ago. I doubt that Morey would have chased them to be one of his "stars" back then if they were available. He might have tried to get them as his good role players at the right price.

The three "stars" Morey got was James Harden, Dwight Howard, and Ty Lawson.

That's the difficult with trying to get all your stars without drafting them. It is really hard to "luck" into one star in any strategy, and the chances that teams will trade you multiple or you can sign few in the prime without any of those players having red flags is slim.

Green was their best player when he wasn't going full on Penistiano Ronaldo

Meh I dont think 3 is necessary, definitely welcomed but not necessary.

    Bron/Irving
    KD/Westbrook

Are the duo's that gave GS the business. Two stars, good role players, good coaching is what is NEEDED imo.

I would say that championship teams have three guys that play like superstars on their team for them to be great, but that doesn't mean they would be superstars on other teams.

What separates the Rockets is they didn't get great consistent performances from other guys than Harden. If Lawson played up to and improved upon where he was a year or two ago with Denver. If D-Mo played up to the potential DD and BobbytheGreat think he is capable of. If Dwight had the mindset of virtually any other NBA player with his physical tools, etc. etc. etc. the Rockets could easily be viewed at as a championship team with a "big three".

But Draymond Green performed well as a super role player, and Ty Lawson did not show up.
Klay Thompson continued to improve, and D-Mo didn't stay healthy & improve in his first couple of seasons.
Lebron has the heart of a champion and Dwight is still looking to blame everyone else but himself.

The Rockets have/had the talent. What they don't have that sets them apart from the true winners in the league is in the chest, and between the ears. More important than going out and finding Big star name #5, or big star name #6 is finding the right personalities and the right kind of drive that is going to galvanize this team, and take the mentality of this team to a new level. Going out and trading for the next star player, and then the next, and the next wont solve anything.

(insert DD kicking the can joke here :)

Green is probably the best 2-way player on the Warriors. Thompson second.

The only superstar Golden State has is Curry, surrounded by great to very good players around him on the court. They are doing just fine because the culture and system they established when Kerr was hired as coach. This superstar argument is tiring, and seems like a cop out to Me at the moment.

If the Rockets had Chris Paul, Harden, Durant, James and Howard as their starting lineup, Morey and the organization will still probably find a way to underachieve by either hiring the wrong coaching personnel or missing out on something else regarding intangibles for the team. Then they will probably find another excuse for the unfortunate circumstances regarding the failures of the team.
