I think what our OP is saying is not that there's not something objectively threatening to Harden's legacy from losing this series. The guy will still be a Hall of Famer some day. I think what's being said is about how the media and historians will label him.

Seven playoff appearances and four losses to the Warriors during that time is going to pretty much going to seal the deal for these types on never giving any sort of attention (certainly not praise) to Harden ever again. They hate him. They've been forced to pay attention and even feign being impressed during this legendary regular season he had. But they've still figured out how to not give him the MVP (I would presume) and a loss in the playoffs to the stated rivals YET AGAIN will be the perfect cap for them to permanently be rid of this annoying Harden problem of theirs.

This series will determined his legacy as defined by others with louder voices.

LBJ defeated 70win team though. We had them down 3-2 with g7 at home. Harden choked, MDA choked and thats a fact. Jordan/Kobe aint having that loss

Even if this were true (it's not), remind us again which team Jordan faced that was even close to last year's or this year's GSW team?

And then he played a 70 win team plus Kevin Durant and went 1-8

    This is laughable bullshit
His Legacy will be greater than Barkleys, and almost any talking head ex player not named Shaq
Even if he never gets a ring

Once he retire they will type about his greatness and toughness
Hardluck and wrong place wrong time . .blah blah

He will be in the Hall of Fame
Harden may be named one of the 50 greatest players of all time
HE is better than Pippen but rings keep pippen in
Better than Dominique Wilkins and I love Dominique

    Pul-lease this is crap

You really think CP is better than Kyrie????

Either way, seems like what you're really alluding to is:

Durant, Curry, Klay, Iggy, Draymond (last year and this year) <<< Curry, Clay, Draymond, Barnes, Bogut/Iggy (2016 finals)

It sucks that Harden didn't want to join a 73 wins team. If he did, they would be worshiping him right now for having 3 rings. :D lol

To me the only guy that can give harden **** is Dirk. No one else has won with less then 2 allstars at a minimum n most the time 3 stars. N not star in name but play. Let it sink in...other then that spurs series were he flamed out most lost have been against the greatest team ever. Oh n a last second dame shot. Not bad

If Harden and the Rockets lose this series, but then go on to win championships the next four years. Will this series define his legacy?

Respectfully, it should be on the line. He needs to prove he can duplicate his regular season performances to the postseason. He's been decent so far. But decent ain't gonna cut it. Morey called him the best offensive player EVER, time to prove it

The warriors starting lineup is an all star team with 2 mvps lol of jesus was playing he probably couldn't beat them but hardens legacy will be defined bc he hasn't? To me the legacies in question are on the other team.

We need to atleast go back to Oakland tied up...and i think everyone will be fair in their evaluation of him even if we lose the series.

Losing to the Warriors won't define Harden's legacy and that's true even if Harden under performs as he did last year vs the Warriors.

Harden's career is a long ways from over and just like Dirk's reputation & losses in 06 and 07 didn't define his legacy due to achievements in 11, Harden likewise has many more chances to "define" his legacy.

However, another subpar performance from Harden WILL continue to add to the narrative/fact/belief/opinion that Harden wilts in the playoffs and at this point, that narrative is becoming more fact than opinion at this point.
