"Big Mac" has been used, it's old...Mark Mcgwire.

Why are we trying to give 2 players one nickname? I don't believe I've ever heard of this being done before. Maybe the entire team could get a nickname, like the "Bad Boys" Pistons for example. I prefer to call them just T-Mac and Yao with these choices.

"Chicken and Rice" sounds kind of cool, but there is no way the Rockets would ever market that.

Alright, going with the Texas Hold'em theme that this thread inspired, how about:

    Pocket Aces!!!

And if we get Fisher, we can call him The Flop.

I definitely agree that none of these nicknames are instantly great. A nickname shouldn't have to grow on you or be forced into the public mind.

I find non of the name we came up so far is catchy or cool. I will just stick with TMac and Dynasty or Chairman Yao. Did any other combo players on other teams have nickname? Malone and Stockton, SHaq and Kobe didn't. But it would be nice to have one but the list you have not really worthy.

"The Bad Boys", well it's not a duo, but a group.

TY Jelly sounds like a sensual lubricant. :p

Of the names posted in the poll, I like "the ones" or "one eleven" the best, but really am not overly thrilled with either.

Of course, I'm having trouble coming up with anything better.

    Here's my crappy list anyway:

5-2-1 (5= center, 2= SG, and 1 is shared in their numbers. The only reason I like this is because of the song by the Doors ).

Flying Aces (another reference to the 1's and since it's old-fashioned slang referring to expert pilots, it's very loosely related to the "Rockets" theme).

Feng Shui (okay, this one is really weak, but it kind of fits. The idea that the right placement of individual pieces creates the best flow of chi (i.e., lifeforce) works if you consider Yao and McGrady to be the right pieces).

East West Best (had to go with at least one rhyming one. This works on 2 levels: 1) best players of the Eastern/Western Conferences and 2) best of the Eastern/Western hemispheres of the world).

The Dynasty (has a bit of an Asian flare to it, but may be a bit presumptuous since they actually haven't won anything yet)

    I voted "M&M" but I like the "1's" a lot.

By the way.... What are the odds of having a better season this year???

    "11 to 1."

I still say we should have more than one nickname for them, for all kinds of diverse situations. Like I pointed out in the other thread. :D
