I had no idea that was the season finale... for a finale it was a bit poor but as a regular episode it was fine. I guess it doesn't really matter but I'm thinking of gold like "Casino Night."
I understand, and can get behind people flipping the channel. I like it because, let's face it, that's how a lot of people are. That's how a lot of couples are. And anyone who has seen who David Brent left the party with in the final, Christmas, Office Special will understand. I appreciate the US writers for not wrapping that relationship up in a tidy bow, with or without knowing that Amy Ryan isn't long for the series.
I'm not going to read anything in this thread! I'm halfway through Office season 4. I must admit that I am HOOKED on this show. At first, I thought it wasn't funny. Now, I love it. Season 4 has been a disappointment so far but still funny! When do the seasons on DVDs usually come out? August? It's going to be hard waiting for Season 5 to come out since I'm used watching an episode or two everyday. Ahhhhh!
I think the end of season 3 was really the end of the renaissance period of the show. Seasons 4 and 5 haven't really lived up to that standard, but they sure still have some funny-ass moments.
Yeah, it was really fun to watch before Season 4....i'll have to see how rest of season 4 and 5 are. I love the Dwight & Angela plot... sometimes Michael is TOO much and I cringe at what he's going to do! Really?? Oh yeah! I thought I would have to wait until it comes out on DVD. Thanks a ton!
Not sure if this was ever posted...didn't see it in other threads. I was googling to see why some characters have their real first names. I came across this. http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=247072>1=7703 Wow, I wonder if it would made any difference if Angela was cast as Pam and Brian cast as Stanley. Good read!
I think you get a lot of that stuff in the DVD commentaries and stuff. Which is why i'd say they're well worth watching!
There are no small roles, only small actors. I believe that Pam and Jim read parts to each other in the casting calls perfectly, and that's why the producers decided it would work. I also think that the roles of the actors play along very well with misconceptions and stereotypes that later the writers can use to their advantage. Imagine Kevin Malone as the "Did I stutter?" character. I don't think that would have worked as well as Stanley doing it. Now, Andy... well, that's just... PERFECT. That's my favorite character. Rrrrreeee-dee dee-dee! ♪ ...
Yeah, I'm considering buying The Office DVD sets...I think they're worth watching again! I have some sets that I don't even watch more than once. No spoilers! I haven't seen that episode yet but I will tonight. New disc comes in today! Sadly, it'll be last one for a while unless we watch Season 5 on Hulu.com
Buy all of them, and buy the Office UK ones, as well when you can (there is season 1, season 2, and the Christmas special- very short). Once you get used to the language differences (British vs. American), you'll laugh out loud, especially at David Brent (the song "I've got some free love on the free love freeway" is one of the funniest things I've ever heard).
Office US has really branched off from what Office UK was, and did so since season 2. There are lots of regular humor on the UK version, but they also rely on that cringing laugh-at-the-discomfort type of humor. Most of it stems from David Brent. I dont know how representative it is of British humor, but its a good change of pace from what most network shows try.
