we need a young tony allen/ batum to play "the guard" position next to harden.

Even back then, Bev would get burned on pick and rolls which smart teams ran.
His best asset was getting impulsive players to take it personal when he was guarding them, ie. westbrook and CPflop, jrue holiday.

he shoots 3's and attempts to play D, no denying either of those. who cares about hustle and energy if he's terrible, which he is.

they know he sucks, that's why they attempted to replace him with lawson. he's gone this offseason.

His attempts and % were awful in the playoffs. On top of that he's injury prone. He's not starting material and we need a starter.

We don't need a starting PG though, we need a true SG to start with Harden that can finish his plays.

Bev needs to be traded. He's just not what's up.

and yet he was still the 2nd best player on the team this year. This team is a complete mess.

Bev does not need to be traded. I agree with several posters on moving him to the bench role. He would be great coming off the bench and dedicating himself to defense. We absolutely need to go after Rondo. He's the type of guy that could be the leader we so badly need.

whatever you want to call it pg or not, the guard position next to him needs to be able to handle the ball and make plays. the weaknesses in the backcourt next to him needs to be minimal but definitely a true starter in this league.

the numbers are very clear, bev is arguably the best guard for James Harden.

Harden handles the ball a lot but is weak on defense. Our PG should be able to knock down 3's and play great defense and not mess up.

If you are saying he is terrible based on his stats, then you must not watch the games. He indeed is not the best pg out there, but he is by no means terrible. He actually brings attitude, and effort on every play. He improved his shooting from 3, and tear drops, so I on the other hand see improvement. Should he start? that is up for debate.
You can't teach what he brings. He doesn't turn the ball over often for a pg, and if there were a coach that actually ran an offense and not just Harden offense, I think he can excel as a pg.

Talking about numbers but using traditional stats. Is that you, Charles Barkley?

Let's talk about numbers: Bev had one of the team's best DefRtg in the Regular Season and in Postseason. His NetRtg is the best among our starters. He has the team's best AST/TO Ratio in Regular Season and Postseason while having the best eFG% of our guards.

Beverley might not be an elite Point Guard and would be a superior back up, but with 5M$ a year he's a very valuable player for this team. The whole terrible season definitely isn't on him.

There is no way in hell Rondo is the answer with Harden being the primary ball handler. You are basically saying Rondo is going to be primary ball handler and Harden is going to play off the ball. That is not going to work. Harden can't play his game that way.

Well he can't be the worst PG in the league, because James Harden does 95% of the ball handling here. Lead the team in 3pt% this year, so he can shoot. It looks like you may be a disgruntled Lin fan

He would be a great energy/defensive backup PG.

I will say it again, we should have kept Lin. Lin is looking like the 2nd playmaker this team desperately needs.

Literally everyone not named Harden had a huge dip in their numbers. Bev was more than solid during the regular season.

He should be a 15-20mpg backup, not a starter. He would be able to play more aggressively then and not have to worry about wearing down over the course of a game/season.

He lost some quickness after that meniscus injury in late 2014, but if he could just have a more consistent jumper he could still be a solid player in the league.

James Harden does 95% of the ball handling because Bev doesn't know how to dribble or distribute. Harden has no business handling the ball that much. He is breaking turnover records.

Oh and I must automatically be a Lin fan since I'm Asian? Good to know. Idiot.
