With the call-up of Correa and a great start to the Draft, it got me thinking about how young and bright the future is for the Astros. Here is a brief list of the Astros either in the majors, in the minors, or just drafted. It is arguably the best list of players and prospects in all of baseball. What do ya'll think? 1B: Chris Carter, Jon Singleton, A.J. Reed 2B/SS: Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, Jed Lowrie, Alex Bregman, Tony Kemp, Joan Mauricio 3B: Luis Valbuena, Colin Moran, J.D. Davis OF: George Springer, Jake Marisnick, Preston Tucker, Kyle Tucker, Daz Cameron, Derek Fisher, Domingo Santana, Brett Phillips, Teoscar Hernandez, Nestor Muriel (16 year-old from PR) C: Jason Castro, Max Stassi, Jacob Nottingham Pitchers: Dallas Kuechel, Collin McHugh, Lance McCullers, Vincent Velasquez, Mark Appel, Michael Feliz, Josh Hader, Jandel Gustave, Thomas Eshelman, Riley Ferrell The middle infield and outfield is completely insane. Pitching has great promise as well. Catching and 3B need help down the line, but perhaps Correa eventually moves to 3B, Bregman SS, and Altuve 2B.
10 years is a long time... 10 years ago, the Astros were in the World Series. 10 years before that... they had a young growing team (centered around Biggio/Bagwell/Bell) that was still trying to make the playoffs. The future is certainly bright, but there's also a good chance that a huge chunk of these players on your list are no longer here 10 years from now.
fingers crossed we are starting to generate long-term talent in the farm system that keeps the Astros in contention for the next 10 years. The Cardinals system is the obvious comparison. That's where I hope they are 10 years from now. Always. In. Contention.
Astros are being built for the long haul...we wont have the ups and downs of most teams over the span of a decade. It'll be consistent contention.
i love what the farm system is doing though keeping these guys through arbatrasion and free angentcy that will be tough expect trades for more and more prospects like the late 60s early 70s we will watch other teams win with our ex players
What’s that? Ah — the next ten years? Don’t talk about the next ten years! You kidding me? The next ten years? I just hope we can win a game!
Depends on the fans to fill the seats & concession stands. I'm sure he will spend money as he has substantially added payroll the last few winters
Slow down there, one inning at a time! 16,530 innings to be exact. I included post season innings where we win 9 out of 10 pennants, also included extra innings where we can't get run support for LMc and 37 year old vet, Dallas.
