The names for the divisions are terrible, but I guess that's what you get when you can't have geographic divisions. Is Ohio St./Michigan going to be played every year even if they are in separate divisions? I can't imagine a Big Ten season without that game, but on the other hand, that's not really fair if Michigan has to play OSU every year while the other teams in their division rotate who they play.
Funny that their biggest tradition is not being able to count. And those division names are the biggest circle jerk I have ever seen in my life. Give me a break.
There was some sort of logic behind splitting them in different divisions but I cannot remember the reason.
Each team has a "rival" in the other division that they will play every year. So OSU/Michigan will play every year. Nebraska / Penn State will play each year, and so on. Sort of like the MLB interleague stuff with Texas vs. Houston, Yankees vs Mets, etc.
B1G Ten....really? Must be a horrific mashup disaster spawn of overpaid branding consultant and focusgroupped madness. This reminds me of of popular "computer generated" '96 Olympics mascot "Whatizit" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Izzy_(mascot) Could have easily picked geographic division names too, inoffensive ones like "Great Lakes" or "Plains" or "Forest" or whatever.
Legends and Leaders? Are you serious? What, was "Teh Epic Awesome Sauce" and "Full of Win" taken?? Ridiculous and laughable.
Actually, looking over it again, they could have easily called it "East" and "West" - granted it wouldn't make sense due to Wisconsin being in the East...but it's way better than having a motivational poster for a division name.
This is like the NHL using names in their divisions (Norris, Smythe, Adams, and Patrick) and conferences (Campbell and Wales) before they change it to geographical words.
They say 9 out of 10 people hated the division names. I don't think they asked enough people. It should be 99 out of 100.
