It is all a ploy to get the Texas teams to offer him more than the minimum. Willing to bet quite a bit that he either signs with the Spurs or Rockets (given they offer more than the min).
I wonder how Marion would look as the starting PF, seeing as he played all of his best years at PF next to Amare. I would love to see him get back to running the floor and using his strengths. (His quickness at the PF)
It does not look like the Mavs really want Marion that badly. Seems that they are happy enough going younger with Aminu in the same role. Could just be a money thing. After Parsons, the Mavs pretty much only had minimum contracts and the "room exception" to work with. Marion may be looking for bigger $.

Interesting. Marion has to know that if Love is traded to Cavs then his role would be considerably smaller since Miller is already penciled in to back up Lebron at the 3 spot. Rockets either need to step up to the plate and add some more suger to their offer or look elsewhere. Morey used to go after former lottery picks, maybe he should use the same tactic in upgrading the 4 spot. Beasley and Vesely are former lottery picks, still very young, and offer differing skillsets and intangibles. Beasley is a scorer with poor work ethic and off field distractions. Vesely suffers from lack of confidence but well regarded work ethic. Both are freakish athletes who score the ball differently. Beasley needs to be featured, Vesely is the ultimate garbage man. I like Vesely because he brings crazy length (7 footer), likes to run, no work ethic flags, rebounds, plays D and is a willing role player. Plus Vesely has shown that if given more than 10 minutes a game, positive reinforcment and right offense, he is still effective. His production in 2013 Eurobasket highlights how effective he can still be. The guy is still 24, and at 7 feet, the dunking Ninja would be very effective defending LMA, Dirk and Durant. Better than what we currently have in any event. If the guy could find a J or hit better than .500 at charity stripe, he would still have NBA teams lining up to give him another chance. Morey needs to take a chance on this guy.
LOL Vesley??? This is about as ridiculous as when someone suggested acquiring Boozer to toughen up our squad! Also Vesley will be taking his hot Wife/GF to Turkey since he signed with Fenerbahçe Ülker
If they're trading Wiggins and Bennett as rumored they'll be able to give him the starting SF spot anyway, which seems to concern him more than money.
Vesely is the ultimate garbage man who does not need set plays but scores on cuts, transition, forced turnovers, offensive rebounds and any misses near the rim. He would bring needed length at the 4 and plus athleticism to defend the longer 4s in the West. Not a great post defender but Rockets have some of the best post defenders in Howard, Adrien and Dorsey. Vesely has the lateral quickness to defend the perimeter, which the team currently lacks. Vesely can also defend the 3. Vesely is also a very underrated passer. If the guy didn't have flaws he would not be available. Rockets offense stresses ball movement and running, and he is a hustle player even on D which fits the Rockets new paradigm in acquiring defense minded run through walls type role players.
But he's out of the NBA already...like gone...probably for good. He was good at tap back rebounds...that's pretty much it. I watched Wizards games...dude was a couldn't ball and fouled too much. Anyhow, agree to disagree....and the guy is already signed overseas.
If Cleveland is offering the same thing, I'd rather go to Cleveland. He's already won a title. He already has money. The only thing left to do in his career is to play (or benchwarm) for another ring.
