Well not all fans are the same. I for one dislike the fans who are standing, screaming and shouting obscenaties while I am concentrating on the game which my team is playing. They disturb my concentration and obscure my view.
I just can't get into the almost hootligan screaming fan scenario.
Although there are opportunities to stand and cheer every game without being an exihibitionist.
Because of this I don't go to games anymore I am able to watch and study the game of my team on the TV, stand up and cheer as I think befits the game. This is just one fan's point of view. I would not have brought this up but as you are I thought that you might like to know the view of a Corporation President who never attended a Rocket's Game in a suite and tie. :p

You know I thought I having a sign like that and carrying it around TC during last years playoff games. Its embarrassing when the crowd is exposed nationally.

It was actually awesome sitting in the section we did, 427. We had the back row, so no one telling us to sit down. Although we had a few brushes with the event staff.

    ok my 2 cents...

i'll quote what I said in mig's pic thread on how I got lower bowl tixs
First off, my ticket rep ROCKS ONCE AGAIN :)

ok, as far as the lower section....

When Yoyo/Adrian and I sat in our seats in our section, I knew it was going to be lame from the start, out of maybe the 2 rows in front and behind us, I could probably count in my fingers how many fans were WEARING Rockets attire, even RED in that matter. As Yoyo stated, he was asked to sit down literally maybe after the FIRST FREAKING PLAY, I would understand maybe like 2-3 mins in, but THE FIRST PLAY? Dear god, how lame is that? Nobody really applauded, I shouted "defense" and the usual chants, and knew I annoyed the guy in front of me, which I didn't care. We alternated throughout the game because we'll I wanted everybody in the group to experience

    1. The obvious, better seats/view

    and

    2. The lower section S-U-C-K-S

and I accomplished that. Hell like Jeremiah said, I offered him and lurker to go down, but they didn't want to deal with sitting with them after telling them what we experienced. The people that sit behind the basket in the lower section on both sides DO MAKE noise, I have much respect for them, its just the club section that is VIEWABLE from the TV cameras and pretty much represents how we are as fans in this city.

I accept that Houston is a bandwagon city, I get that, but its THE FREAKING PLAYOFFS, we aren't facing the Clippers or some B team that your boss gave you tixs because your owners/managers/supervisors wanted to see Kobe/Lebron/KG instead. It's a privilege to watch Playoff basketball we all suffered through the rebuilding years, most casual fans take it for granted.

Now, I do admit, I feel for the person behind me when I stand, and usually respect their view. In most cases, if people in front of me stood, I would watch around them or stand myself. Unfortunately, their aren't people like me, so, whatever...

In essence, I have a blast with my peoples from the boards, doesn't matter what section I am in, how horrible the seats are, as long as I know I did my best to support my team, thats all it really matters. I just wish one day all of us on Clutchfans would fill A section in the lower bowl like we did for the first game of the playoffs last year in the upper deck and show the national TV audience that we actually do have fans.

btw, keep you inputting your opinions, cause I know for a fact many people in organization read the boards, its just a matter of time when they will to something about it. Remember the Rowdies were ORIGINALLY a group lead by people in this VERY FORUM, not JVG. Hell, we corrected management to change Clutch the Bear's ears to red when they were still blue after they switched jerseys.

LAYGO, that sucks to hear you had that experience, especially the dough you put down for those tickets, you sir, rank up there with Yoyo, GRENDAL, tm1ym11, and nwo34life as one of the most passionate group of fans outside of Houston.

they have better seats than you probably means they have more money to spend than you which probably means they're doing something right. You should follow suit.

Anybody wanna start another supporters group? Maybe on the opposite side of the Red Rowdies. I could probably only afford upper bowl season tix, but another group of at least 15 people at every game would still improve the atmosphere. I would love to help start up a group created by the fans instead of hoping for free tickets from T-Mac.

I'm a Dynamo fan too, and when I see groups like the Texian Army and El Batallon (that started on their own) I think to myself..."Why can't Rockets fans do something like that?". Sure...there are more games and ticket prices are higher, but don't yall think it's still possible?

Dude did you have Rocket Red hair??? I totally saw you! If so I totally saw you! And I saw that bullsh&t they tried to pull. I was sitting really close as well and was standing up yelling and trying to make as much noise as possible. I was so pissed when the fans started leaving. I do sports writing for UH and did my weekly column on the so called fans that we have. I almost wanted to call the Fun Police and have KG and Tim Hardaway usher those rich pricks to the top of the arena.

The Toyota Center is a morgue. In fact, a lot of pro sports have the same issue with pricing out the die hard fans. If you want to see a real electric atmosphere, go check out a game at Gallagher Iba Arena in Stillwater, OK or Phog Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas. Those places rock from start to finish. Another reason why college sports are more fun to attend than NBA games. They are cheaper and the atmosphere is so much better.

From what I remember, back in the 80s and 90s, The Summit did get pretty decent at times, before we started to suck.

Wait, did I understand this correctly- someone was escorted out by security becuase of standing and yelling?!

I don't agree with brow-beating anyone sitting who paid for a seat, but you paid for yours too. You can stand and making noise. They can choose to do so or not, but what was the reasoning for the eviction exactly?

This thread is embarrassing. Those people are wearing long sleeve shirts because they came to the game from work. Their life does not revolve around a basketball team and posting their thoughts on a message board. Maybe if you whiners had all worked harder and smoked less weed you could afford seats there. Also keep in mind that those people payed the taxes that built the arena, including your smaller seat with a worse view. Most people come to a basketball game to unwind after a long day, not to put on jerseys and garb like 8 year olds and scream like neanderthals. Truly embarrassing thread.

I don't think anyone really has anything against people wearing dress clothes at the games, but it is the sheer lack of excitement in the lower bowl. Rarely do you see people clapping/cheering or standing up during crucial points in the game at TC. Even at golf tournaments you have people clap for great drives and putts, and these corporate clown at a PLAYOFF BASKETBALL game can't even muster one? Now that is the true embarassment. I was watching the Spurs/Suns game today, and you can see a lot of people in dress attire, but even so, they were very much into the game and cheering their team on.

I'm not sure why some people think that wearing Rockets clothing and supporting your team(cheering & being loud) = your a bum/poor can't good seats afford tickets/need a job. I am from the bay area and we have people here with A LOT of money, and they seem to have no problem to root & be loud for the Warriors. So please don't bring up financial status as an excuse for acting like a bunch of mutes. If your looking for a place to relax and unwind.... go get a massage.

You're either Mr. Meowgi or Fatty, or this is the most hilarious bait post ever. Noticed you said they not we, not up that ladder yet?

BTW, all the seats are the same size IIRC. Some just have cupholders, others do not.

    are you not from here?

If you rented a hotel/motel or rented a car, you basically helped finance the arena, or should i say, payed for the arena.

I don't think people come to unwind at the game. If you want to unwind, go to the other side of downtown and see a play, or see the ballet. It's a nice and relaxing place. Don't go there just to be seen by people.

this is not my rant yet.
