It seems like this nba season has been far more exciting than any that i can remember. With all the superstars moving around like tmac, shaq, francis, The league has so many storylines now, as well as so many great moments already: Tmac Yao combo could it be the next dynasty? Will Shaq bring Wade to Kobe status? Will Kobe rise to Jordan status w/o shaq? Did Jvg ruin francis? the return of grant hill Lebrons takeover Carmelos meltdown Wades rise to lebrons status Suns becoming the best offensive team in the league Amare beasting every team he faces Tmacs comeback vs spurs J'oneals 50+, iversons back to back 50, lebrons 43 vs det, kobe vs shaq on christmas ...the trade of boki nachbar And i know thers a lot more, im just brainstorming, but does anyone else agree the league has been more exciting this year than the past 5 combined?
this is so true. I've been a NBA for a few years. But since watching every minute of the playoffs LAST year, and EVERY minute this past playoffs, and watching a ton more games last season, I consider myself a hardcore NBA fan. There are so many great storylines. and I love the L, so entertaining (most teams anyway).
Also, as great as last year's rookie crop was (Lebron, Wade, Carmelo, Bosh, etc), this year's rookies are proving that they can be instant contributors as well. Maybe not franchise players along the same lines, but players like Dwight Howard and Emeka Okafor are playing well, and Andre Iguodala (AI pt 2), Josh and JR Smith, etc are showing that they can be great role players that do the little things.
I disagree. I don't like the new rules and the new way the league is going. There is a reason the Suns and Sonics are doing so good this year, and it isn't that they suddenly are better teams than everyone else. The League has done everything it can to change the game into a run and gun guardfest, and still be able to call it basketball. Maybe some people want to see every game go over 100, but I like them to play a little defense out there. Hopefully this is brought under control come the playoffs, or we might as well trade Yao for Maggette.
Yes, with the new crop of stars in the last couple of years I think that the league has finally recovered from the post-Jordan era letdown. It's good times ahead.
