get the proper mix of timing with a minimally distracting leg kick. You just have to get it high enough to keep the spikes from catching. I never played baseball beyond pickup games so I was never coached. So it's interesting to see how far coaching sometimes deviates from self generated habits like long swings and high leg kicks. I always though I needed my weight on my back foot and now they emphasize shifting to the forward leg by impact which makes some sense with it being the fulcrum.
I have to keep reminding myself that WAR is about 2 points higher than WAA so 4 WAR is about 2 ABOVE AVERAGE.
I believe this is a good attitude for Pena. But then again, I don't think any player is untouchable. I also believe every player can be overpaid, even if they are the best player ever.
I would hope that quieting down his movement would relieve some of the anxiousness, hence not reaching.....
It absolutely works for some people, but I've never liked the excessive stuff...just seems to me as more stuff to think about.
So, he's hit two homeruns since May 29th of last year and none in spring training this year either. His power is absolutely gone. What happened to him?
Pena is my biggest surprise of the season so far................kid is on fire in the field and at the plate. The change has worked, good for him
