The Rangers are fittingly eliminated by losing a one run game, and on a throwing error by that b**ch Odor. That is about as sweet a result as I've ever seen that didn't impact one of my teams.

They didn't take their rabbit's foot with them to October, and they were beat handily by a better team, regardless of their regular season records.

it saddens me that, that would happen to an outstanding individual like odor.

Not that it's a huge consolation, but the Astros have won more playoff games the last two years than the Rangers.

    GOOD BYE RANGERS

    CLAP CLAP CLAPCLAPCLAP

I know too many Houston ex-pats that have become traitorous rangers "fans" and I will enjoy this for today knowing they have exactly as many playoff wins as we do this season.

As we've been saying, and their ALDS flameout underscores it, the H2H record between the Astros and Rangers makes no logical sense. They're a better team - but I just don't believe they're 11 games better.

I don't think they are better. I think these 2 teams have been very even since last August, I would even lean slightly towards us as being the better team. There is absolutely no tangible reason when you look at the metrics, and the results against the rest of baseball, that the Rangers should be dominating us.

But they are, and the results are too striking to simply say bad luck. It has to be something psychological with our guys. They get in their own heads when we play the Rangers. I think one good series could break through that, but that hasn't happened and the bad mental juju just keeps building.

Their 1 run record was incredibly lucky and playing in our division helped as well

    I think they're better; I just don't think they're 11 games better.

BTW, Gomez finished with a 900+ OPS with them - anyone else slightly flummoxed/concerned about that?

I like to look at the glass as half full and say that Gomez finished with a 2-13 performance in the playoffs.

After getting swept in the first round? No, not concerned.

The Rangers have a number of issues to work out; Beltran, Desmond, Gomez, Moreland and Lewis all are free agents.

The Rangers will have money to spend, but I don't know that they will have the money to replace all that production.

I should have been more explicit - it was more a question about our regime/coaching staff. I recognize small sample size - but Texas was sure they could rehabilitate him - and they did. One of several former Astros who had really good years.

    A little concerning for me...

I personally keep in in the back of my mind, but I want to see it happen with other bats before I get overly concerned.

Let's see what Gomez does from here on out. I suspect he will resign with the Rangers for a reasonable deal for both sides.

For all those that were upset the Astros didn't make the same midseason moves/trades as the Rangers, here is a list of the players the Rangers gave up at the deadline (with nothing really to show for it):

No. 2 prospect OF Lewis Brinson
No. 3 prospect RHP Luis Ortiz
No. 5 prospect RHP Dillon Tate (2015 2st round pick)
No. 9 prospect 3B/OF Ryan Cordell
INF Travis Demeritte (2013 2st round pick)
    RHP Erik Swanson
    RHP Nick Green

To be fair, they still have Lucroy on a contract year.
