Tell me the difference between these two thoughts:

"I don't like rap music. I prefer rock. I wish more rock music was played at sporting events."

    OR

"I don't like rap music or any of that other hip hop culture trash. Me and my white/hispanic family are offended by the urban themes at Rockets games. Even my educated, mature black friends agree that the music they play is offensive. This statement is not about race."

One is clearly about taste in music and the other is clearly laced with racial issues. The first one says "I prefer one music to another." The other one isn't about music at all. It's about race/class issues that the poster has. The inclusion of a statement about "mature" black people agreeing is a dead giveaway that this is more about issues with perceptions of black people.

90%+ of the lower bowl is white. There are more minorities in the upper bowl.

    Is this a joke?

If you have to mention you're not being racist, you may want to rethink what you're saying. I like how you mention you have African-american friends and Hispanic family members, therefore you can not be racist. Nice way to try to class up your post.

Why do you assume the majority of season ticket holders are just like you in your taste of music and "booty dancing"? Is it because most "Urbanized" and "Hood culture" people can not afford season tickets, therefore they're opinion on the game atmosphere does not count as much as your opinion on what it should be?

No sense on discussing this with you. You clearly have your own way of thinking. No sympathy for your flaming. If you're a troll, go back under your bridge.

I, too, have noticed that the RPD are sometimes a little too scantily clad and therefore some of their dance moves are kind of inappropriate for what is supposed to be a family event. I see no less than a few pairs of cheeks jiggling around every time I go, and that's a little classless, IMO. Also agree on the MC Hammer style pants; those things need to be burned.

I don't listen to as much new rap now... but I like all kinds of rap. From hardcore rap to mindless stuff like Lil' Jon.

But the older I get the less it appeals to me. The lyrics start to seem silly. A lot of rap lyrics are about being "cool" and things that I used to find cool just aren't anymore.

I'm finding it harder to enjoy rap music like I used to the older that I get.

I think if they were playing Jamaican steel drums instead of hip hop he wouldn't have a problem with it. Just my guess.

I know this might be a fine line, but you can dislike aspects of American black culture and not be racist against black people as a whole. I dislike aspects of American white culture and I am not racist against white people as a whole...if that makes any sense.

Would you prefer the extremely cheesy, outdated and "Texas country" losing experience that is provided at Texans games, you racist son of a b****?

OK, I like your post, but as a white person, I'm a bit confused. Because I'm not getting an "urban" feel from this post. If you would be so kind as to blacken it up a bit. us white folks would sincerely appreciate it.

(do I need to add the smiley face?)

What really bothers me about all rap music is that it's basically about b**tches and h*s and shooting police officers. Like this highly offensive set of lyrics:

"Be, be, 'fore we came to this country
We were kings and queens, never porch monkeys
It was empires in Africa called Kush
Timbuktu, where every race came to get books
To learn from black teachers who taught Greeks and Romans
Asian Arabs and gave them gold when
Gold was converted to money it all changed
Money then became empowerment for Europeans
    The Persian military invaded
They learned about the gold, the teachings and everything sacred
    Africa was almost robbed naked
Slavery was money, so they began making slave ships
Egypt was the place that Alexander the Great went
He was so shocked at the mountains with black faces
Shot up they nose to impose what basically
Still goes on today, you see?
If the truth is told, the youth can grow
They learn to survive until they gain control
Nobody says you have to be gangstas, hoes
Read more learn more, change the globe"

It's cool to me, idk how you think it's too "urban". You should worry more about the game rather than the music, if you worry about the whole "experience" you surely ain't getting the full thing when you are sitting there crying about music.

Yeah I kind of find myself in that same boat too. I have to search out for rap/hip hop artists that actually write creative stuff. Like Drake...he has some catchy stuff but man...the way he writes and raps kind of sucks. But I still end up listening to it lol.

I used to write off Big Sean as one of those mindless rappers cause I had only heard the hooks on his songs. After that Detroit v Everybody came out I was listening to interviews with him and other Detroit rappers and he actually writes some pretty solid stuff.

Anyhow...that's my story for the day. ;)

I'm also quite offended when they play Back in Black. Because you THINK AC-DC is talking about something other than race, but c'mon, who are we kidding?

This would be OPs ideal top 10 playlist:

    1. White Wedding, Billy Idol
    2. White Lightning, White Heat, The Velvet Underground
    3. White as Snow, U2
    4. White Tennis Sneakers, Jan and Dean
    5. White Rabbit, Jefferson Airplane
    6. A Whiter Shade of Pale, Procol Harum
    7. White Room, Cream
    8. Nights in White Satin, The Moody Blues
    9. Cream, Prince
    10. White Riot, The Clash

(actually, that's a damn good playlist)

I Can from Nas. He's really a terrific lyricist- especially lately, I can relate to some of what he speaks:

I saw my daughter send a letter to some boy her age
Who locked up, first I regretted it then caught my rage, like
How could I not protect her from this awful phase
Never tried to hide who I was, she was taught and raised like
A princess, but while I'm on stage I can't leave her defenseless
Plus she's seen me switching women, pops was on some pimp ****
She heard stories of her daddy thuggin'
So if her husband is a gangster can't be mad, I'll love him
Never, for her I want better, homie in jail - dead that
Wait till he come home, you can see where his head's at
N***as got game, they be tryna live
He seen your mama crib, plus I'm sure he know who your father is
Although you real, plus a honest kid
Don't think I'm slow, I know you probably had that chronic lit
You 17, I got a problem with it
She looked at me like I'm not the cleanest father figure but she rocking with it

For my brothers with daughters, I call this
For my brothers with daughters, I call this
Not sayin' that our sons are less important
For my brothers with daughters, I call this
For my brothers with daughters, I call this
Not sayin' that our sons are less important

This morning I got a call, nearly split my wig
This social network said "Nas go and get ya kid"
She's on Twitter, I know she ain't gon post no pic
Of herself underdressed, no inappropriate ****, right
Her mother cried when she answered
Said she don't know what got inside this child's mind, she planted
A box of condoms on her dresser then she Instagrammed it
At this point I realized I ain't the strictest parent
I'm too loose, I'm too cool with her
Shoulda drove on time to school with her
I thought I dropped enough jewels on her
Took her from private school, so she can get a balance
To public school, they too nurture teen talents
They grow fast, one day she's ya little princess
Next day she talking boy business, what is this
They say the coolest playas and foulest heart breakers in the world
God gets us back, he makes us have precious little girls

For my brothers with daughters, I call this
Not sayin' that our sons are less important
For my brothers with daughters, I call this
For my brothers with daughters, I call this
Not sayin' that our sons are less important

And I ain't tryna mess ya thing up
But I just wanna see you dream up
    I finally understand
It ain't easy to raise a girl as a single man
Nah, the way mothers feel for they sons, how fathers feel for they daughters
When he date, he straight, chip off his own papa
When she date, we wait behind the door with the sawed off
Cause we think no one is good enough for our daughters
    Love
